StanSP Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I like cricket, but I'd get bored watching every game. Maybe first and last test. And maybe highlights of the others.
The Blur Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Im gonna try and watch every game You are going to give up a large slice of your life if you plan to do that
MarkDeVries Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I am planning to watch every game, but will give up pretty quick, me thinks.
Tevez Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Ashes gets you in the mood for a bit of cricket and a barbe. Bowling Shane.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Let me know when you have done, I'll get you a special badge. Great stuff On holiday for the first test so hopefully it will be good to watch out there.
Fosse Boy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I fear the worst for this series, I really do. Opening test at fucking Cardiff? The ECB (and its silent W) are a complete joke.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I fear the worst for this series, I really do. Opening test at fucking Cardiff? The ECB (and its silent W) are a complete joke. Why are they? People werent complaing about the ECB (and its silent W) when Simon Jones was bowling his stuff against Australia in 2005.
Fosse Boy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Why are they?People werent complaing about the ECB (and its silent W) when Simon Jones was bowling his stuff against Australia in 2005. What's Simon Jones got to do with this?
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 What's Simon Jones got to do with this? He is Welsh isnt he? You don't have a problem for a Welsh player playing for England but you do have a problem with a Test being held in Cardiff?
Brainy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I'm guessing his problem isn't Wales, but the first test being there. Much rather the first test would be played at the 'home of cricket'.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I'm guessing his problem isn't Wales, but the first test being there. Much rather the first test would be played at the 'home of cricket'. Where would England rather win the Ashes at? Cardiff or the 'home of cricket'?
Brainy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Well neither. You can't win a five match series after the first two test matches.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Well neither. You can't win a five match series after the first two test matches. Ok where would you like to see England at least garuntee a 2-2 draw?
Brainy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Personally, the Oval is the sexiest looking ground so i'm glad that thats the final destination.
Ultra Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Why are they?People werent complaing about the ECB (and its silent W) when Simon Jones was bowling his stuff against Australia in 2005. By the same token, one of the tests should be in South Africa, as that's where Strauss and Pietersen (who unlike Jones are still in the side) come from.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 He is Welsh isnt he? You don't have a problem for a Welsh player playing for England but you do have a problem with a Test being held in Cardiff? I have no qualms with Welsh players at all, or Cardiff as a venue. The point I'm making is that there are far superior stadia to Sophia Gardens with greater capacities and a history of staging Test matches (Old Trafford and Trent Bridge) that aren't being used, and in a series as important as The Ashes, those should be the venues we play at. I'd feel the same way if they were planning on holding a Test at Derby, Northampton or even Grace Road. The fact that it's in Wales doesn't factor in to it all that much really. If they were going to blood a new Test venue in this series it should have been The Rose Bowl at Southampton, which can hold 5,000 more than Cardiff.
Bert Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 I fear the worst for this series, I really do. Opening test at fucking Cardiff? The ECB (and its silent W) are a complete joke. Get. Over. It.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Training squad to be announced There's no way Michael Vaughan or Monty Panesar should be anywhere near it..
