bald reynard Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 Does anyone know if we plan or intend to enter a Reserve Team into a League this season ? The received wisdom is that we should - but I would imagine entry applications (Pontins League or whatever it is this season) have to be made soon (or even should have been already). The worrying thing was talk from Shakespeare and the Hinckley Manager a couple of weks ago, that United would play some City reserves - and possibly act as our Reserve team.
Bert Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 We won't be. Pearson doesn't want the fringe players that may be needed to cover the first team, to get injured, and he'd prefer to arrange a behind closed doors friendly a few days before to get match sharpness. Doesn't really add up I know, but we won't be having one.
Jimmy Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 it showed last year when fringe players called in that Pearson wasn't able to get enough friendlies, I had hoped he'd learned from that and would get the reserves into a league this year
Father Ted Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 A reserve team is quite vital I think as it provides a stepping stone into the first-team for the youth players.
