Left-back

It's been a bit of a problem position over the past few seasons. Just wondering who people fancy start at LB next season. I know it's a bit early to start picking the team, but there's no obvious choice...assuming City play 4-4-2.

Stewart - he's had a good few games there, but remains as inconsistent as ever. I've never rated him as a good crosser, so perhaps LB is his better position? Although young, he's not going to improve drastically in the future and isn't really Prem quality.

Maybury - the best full-back at the club, but he (and the team as a whole) looks better when he's on the right.

Tiatto - age and temperament count against him. Always busts a gut for the team, but is he less of a liability further up the pitch?

Sheehan - could be a dark horse. The management like him and he's part of the Eire set-up. After Stearman and Dawson getting all the rave reviews this season, he could be the one to break into the side on a regular basis first in a position where there's less competition for places?

New signing???

essential signign imo. sheehan might be long term answer but tiatto was awful at full back earlier in the season and i don't expect him to be here more than one more season.

maybury is a good right back but has looked badly out of position at left back.

not sure about stewart. can look ok but equally can look crap.

I think Stewart will keep his left-back spot for next season (assuming CL continues with a 4-4-2 formation) with Sheehan as cover. Stewart and/or Tiatto will always get their fair share of injuries and Sheehan will most likely get a look-in, that is, if he performs of course! I can see CL make a swoop for a new left winger though, but let's wait and see...

Gary Naysmith from Everton. Levein had him at Hearts and they were distraught that they had to let him go. His contract is up aswell.

Quality player

I like the sound of Naysmith if he's not got big-time wage demands. Failing that, I agree with Shen in thinking that Stewart might start the season at LB, until his shoulder gets injured again.

I bet he's on no more than £6-8k at Everton as he hasn't signed a new deal since signing from Hearts where he will have been on peanuts. Offer him £4-5k a week and job on mate.

I think Naysmith would be a good signing. He can play left back or left wing, so that's obviously useful. Better at left back though from what I've seen.

I think we need two composed full backs, and Stewart isn't that. He's a decent enough left back for this level, but as Nationwider says, I don't think he'll improve much more. His final ball and distribution is questionable even at the best of times.

Well our mate who's an Everton fan can't stop slating Naysmith.

So I am not convinced :P Maybe has the class to do it in the Championship.

The hillsdonator can do it for the Fosse.....(well...maybe not) but im sure the step up from the alliance leagues to the championship would not be a problem for him!!
