Koke Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 El-Empty, I want to meet you one day, and we can share a blunt.
BoneDog Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 I'd probably be absolutely shitting myself, and if I had a gun I'd freely admit that I'd be tempted to do that if I found myself in that situation.I'm not really commenting on the rights and wrongs or whether justice is being done or not - it's just that it's something that gets talked about a lot and people are unsure of what they can and cannot do in these situations, when to my mind the law is pretty clear on the subject. Cannot comment on the poacher case because I wasn't aware of it. I think the fact that it involved the landed gentry may have had something to do with the leniency I bet you would be more than tempted. If two strangers broke in your door and you had a gun you'd use it. Surely you wouldn't just watch em walk towards you with no action?

lou Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Tony Martin was alone in the middle of the night in a very rural location and confronted by 2 young men in his house did what a lot of us would probably do in a panicked situation I suspect. What was he supposed to do, wait and see if they attacked him 1st? No way. I felt for the guy and was truly sorry he went to prison for it. The scumbag he shot would still be alive if he wasnt out robbing folk... end of.

Surely you wouldn't just watch em walk towards you with no action? That would depend on whether I could guess their intent. If they said they wanted to bum me and set me on fire, then I'd probably make them eat hot lead. If they were just after my ipod, I'm not so sure I'd want to risk ten years in prison being bummed and set on fire

Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Trouble is you cant guess their intent until its too late. In the case of Tony Martin, I think the case hung on the point that Barras was actually trying to escape when Martin shot him. If he'd been running at him with a crowbar and Martin had given him both barrels, old Tone would probably have got off scot free. I'm not debating the rights and wrongs of this, just how the law actually works in practice
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 he lured 2 young men in his house late at night whilst he had his mates round with uzis and MP5s . this was his first attempt at this and he was full of Dutch courage and high on crack ( i know i would have been ) and the police had a right laugh when he told them he was planning this.

And not in a gay way!!
