GLC Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Villarreal began their preparations for the new season in style with a 27-0 friendly win over minnows Navata. Having lost manager Manuel Pellegrini to Real Madrid this summer, the Spanish side could not have asked for a better warm-up to the campaign. New coach Ernesto Valverde played a different 11 in each half. Striker Jonathan Pereira notched up seven goals in the encounter, while fellow forwards Joseba Llorente and Ruben Marcos each scored four goals. Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires was also on target with a brace. Villarreal finished fifth in La Liga last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League on the final day. Not bad

dandannieldanok Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Games like this are pointless for both teams.
