Frenzied Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 does anybody know why williams wasnt in the squad for plymouth? maybe he could be another on his way out? 105373 I've been thinking the same thing, although I doubt Levein would get rid of him. We missed him yesterday. Still, it is slightly worrying.
Ric Flair Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I doubt it! Levein has already said recently how well Williams has adapted since he's came here. He says he didn't realise Williams was that good until he was here a while. Perhaps he picked up a knock or something, I wouldn't read too much in to it.
willy37 Posted 9 May 2005 Author Posted 9 May 2005 hopefully not, i think has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the league.
Durnerz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 If he cuts out his lazyness and shows the kind of passion he did against Charlton, Reading and Derby then he will be superb, he has ability, just at times lacks the drive, worth keeping though, and especially as Hughes is a threat to him, it will keep him on his toes.
Stuliasz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 There's no way that he'll release Williams on a free transfer. A decent young centre midfielder, one of the better ones at that in this division, no chance.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 In that Sunday Mail interview he said he was gradually trying to develop Williams into a Paul Hartley (Hearts box-to-box goalscoring midfielder) type of player. Won't leave.
Teeno Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I think the situation was that he wanted to try out a couple of things yesterday, he played players that we playing for their futures at the club and also giving youngsters a go in the line up and on the bench. He knows what Williams is about and how he players and with it being a bit of a pointless game felt it would be more benefitial to player others instead of him.

Won't leave. 105397 I can see Levein playing Williams and Hughes in the centre of midfield next season, even in a 4-4-2. I suspect by attempting to mould Williams in to a box to box player, he'll be asking both players to take it in turns where one sits, and the other gets forward to support the front two...

Bert Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Or maybe we will be playing a 3 man midfield next season??
cono Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 i hope he don't leave though because i think he is a good young player nd he partners up well with hughes!
Leicester_Mad Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Or maybe we will be playing a 3 man midfield next season?? 105903 thats a thought as we have got a young talented few centrebacks. Unfortunately i dont think we'll be signing Kenton as Southampton look to be joining us in this league next year, but McCarthy Maybury and 1 more as CB (Heath) for now, with Sylla (if he joins of course) Stewart/Tiatto/Sheehan as left wing back and Kisnorbo Hughes and Williams in the middle, Connolly and Dublin upfront. That would get the playoffs....i hope

We can all see that Hughes is a fantastic talent and should be playing CM at all costs (in my opinion). However, from the sounds of things Kisnorbo will be a definite starter and that leaves Williams and Hughes vying for the remaining CM spot - which in all probability will mean Hughes playing right midfield. If push came to shove I'd rather have Hughes in centre midfield over Williams, with an actual right sided player playing right midfield.
jordo11 Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 he just played a weaker side dublin werent in iva dont worrie he will stay
Leicesterboi Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Yes he will stay and i have a little tip that CL will opt for a 3-5-2 next season. Thus meaning: LM williams Kisnorbo Hughes RM
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Yes he will stay and i have a little tip that CL will opt for a 3-5-2 next season. Thus meaning: LM williams Kisnorbo Hughes RM 106447 I think you're right - however, I'm guessing LM and RM will actually be wing-backs (remember those? Impey and Guppy?) Maybury on the right and Tiatto/Stewart/Sheehan on the left. Gudjonsson and Dawson on the bench.
Knighton Matt Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 i think we'll be playing 4-4-2 with hughes on the right adopting to 4-5-1 where necessary depending on opposition, thus accomodating hughes williams and kisnorbo in the centre, leaving connolly or de vries as the lone striker.
shen Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Or maybe we will be playing a 3 man midfield next season?? 105903 If CL's 4-3-3 formation against Plymouth is anything to go by, you could be on the right track. However with Sturm not signing, I think those plans are put on hold a bit. ----------------- GK ------------------ Maybury - McCarthy - CB - Stewart -- Hughes - Kisnorbo - Tiatto ------- ----- ST ---- Dublin - Connolly ----- That line-up could be possible...
Simon Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 I think our personnel, at the moment clearly suits a 3-5-2 with wing backs (especially with Maybury on the right) but I cant see it personally. Levein likes his 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 so we'll just have to wait and see. I personally think its a GOOD problem to have this much talent vying for the centre midfield position. I'd like to see what Levein's going to do with it...
