GLC Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Anyone help with this? my boss didnt sound very happy when i rang him
Monk Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Are you sure you heard him OK?? No, I doubt you could get the sack from it. Not sure on your line of work - if you are in an office then maybe an ear infection isn't worth a day off? Not sure

MC Prussian Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 If the infection's serious and you need to see a doctor, no doubt he'll have to give you a day off. Sounds like a really inquisitive kind of boss, but as long as you maintain a straight, honest line, I can't see why you could be given the sack. Unless you've proven to be not too reliable.

stez Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 get a doctor's note. i didn't think you could get one unless you were likely to be off for more than a week?
Zingari Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 middle ear infections can be very serious and badly affect your balance, and operating machinery would be dangerous if you've got any symptoms such as this
Sir Fynwy Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 i didn't think you could get one unless you were likely to be off for more than a week? Some employers require one for any length of absence, the doctor can provide one immediately but may charge for it. I think that you can usually claim the cost back from your employer if the require one for less than a 1 week absence.
ozleicester Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Surely a doctors certificate will clear any confusion, cant imagine you can be sacked if you have one.
Leicfox Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Always thought you could have 1 week off sick self certified ? You can at my place of work.
