Can you get the sack for not going into work because of an ear infection?

Are you sure you heard him OK??

No, I doubt you could get the sack from it. Not sure on your line of work - if you are in an office then maybe an ear infection isn't worth a day off? Not sure

If the infection's serious and you need to see a doctor, no doubt he'll have to give you a day off. :dunno:

Sounds like a really inquisitive kind of boss, but as long as you maintain a straight, honest line, I can't see why you could be given the sack.

Unless you've proven to be not too reliable.

middle ear infections can be very serious and badly affect your balance, and operating machinery would be dangerous if you've got any symptoms such as this

i didn't think you could get one unless you were likely to be off for more than a week?

Some employers require one for any length of absence, the doctor can provide one immediately but may charge for it. I think that you can usually claim the cost back from your employer if the require one for less than a 1 week absence.

Surely a doctors certificate will clear any confusion, cant imagine you can be sacked if you have one.
