Lillehamring Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 i'm not too hot on the finer points of the law, but just witnessed the following incident which seems wrong to me.... ok, a defender and a forward run into the box, come together, shoulder to shoulder, and both go to ground, whilst the ball comes into the box the width of the goal away straight into the keepers arms. the two players stand up and the defender shoves the forward who collapses on the floor. the referee sends the defender off AND gives a penalty. technically the incident is off the ball, so can he actually give the penalty? (here is the incident, about 40 seconds in - if you can watch it, that is)

I remember at Filbert St Robbie Savage won us a penalty when somebody pushed him in an off the ball incident.

Yeh Serini in goal for Ipswich , ball had been cleared to other end of pitch and he booted Sav in his own box. Red card and penalty given , Muz smashed it over the bar
