Leicester City Academy player, Tom Parkes, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Parkes has already starred for England U17s and has been with the academy since he was under the age of ten.

Academy Manager, Jon Rudkin, said: "Tom is a good young prospect, who is working very hard at his game. His long term target is to go on and figure at first team level."

Good luck to the lad but with Tunchev, Hobbs, Brown and Morrison already around he might have to be patient. Always nice to see a lad from the Academy go pro though.

Was he in our youth team which won the league or something two years with the one who left us (Mattock he made me angry with his comments). Our acadamy has done well recently in developing hot prospects for the future :scarf:

I think he had a run out at left back in the pre-season friendly against Tamworth, if it was him I thought he was pretty decent.

He will make it. I'd stick my neck out on that above all other players in our current academy setup by a mile. He is quality.

Difficult to compare the likes of Jorrin John with Parkes or even the all-round aerial dominance of Bolger with Parkes' general ability and leadership.

For various reasons I still have doubts about Parkes but he's captain of what increasingly looks like a team of winners, he seems to be extremely well thought of as an age-group international, he's helped our side to some impressive victories against quality under 18 opposition and it all makes for an increasingly persuasive CV.

Let's hope he proves to be the diamond you describe.
