DeclanMC Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 It's not been as bad tonight unlike recent years I have to say. My cat is curled up on the sofa instead of cowering under the bed!!
samlcfc Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Humberstone was standard. Fireworks were good, hysterically bad band. , your avatar always makes me laugh. Just thought id stick that in there haha
hairy Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Didn't this used to be a one day recognition...It seems that it has now started weeks before? Is this because: a. people feel in some way obliged to set off fireworks b. it is seen as 'cool' c. the gunpowder plotters have overstepped their influence I'm thinking more about what i have seen on the news channels, but I'm guessing it is also prevalent amongst normal everyday folk - has this 'celebrating' lost its real meaning now, should we even be celebrating events that could be argued to now be 'ancient history', I know we are still 'lighting sparklers', but the day marks an event oodles of years ago? Do we need to have a two/three week period of acknowledgement for such events...? DISCUSS. Why do we celebrate someone NOT blowing up the government?
Guest Bilo Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Abbey Park on Saturday night is where the cool people hang.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Plymouth was rather spectacular, tomorrow I'm going to a show that's taking place inside a cavern with a natural underwater lake, all that with cheap drinks and a rock band, it's going to be good.
Daggers Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Why do we celebrate someone NOT blowing up the government? The whole thing jars uncomfortably with the Government's stance on The War Against Terror, if you ask me.
hairy Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 The whole thing jars uncomfortably with the Government's stance on The War Against Terror, if you ask me. My dog has been terrified all week. Poor thing is so stressed she is coming out in bold patches. Wonder if Gordon would send the troops in next door to sort it out?
James. Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I had some little pricks on my street lighting rockets in their hands running down the street and firing them at each other/passers by. Good old East London.
Samilktray Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Humberstone was standard. Fireworks were good, hysterically bad band. Missed the fucking fireworks. Werent happy.
