Tommeh Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Now I'm not really in the know about the politics surrounding this but that is scum right there.
purpleronnie Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 The're scottish they don't know any better, uneducated morons.
Fosse Boy Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 I usually have a lot of time for Celtic but that is appalling. I'm disgusted.
lou Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Sums up right there why I hate a lot of Celtic fans.... most of them really hate us anyway

purpleronnie Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 From what I've read elsewhere the singing came from outside the ground by celtic fans who protested about the shirts having the poppies on them. In a weird way I appreciate the fact they stood up for what they believe in but surely simply waiting outside until the minutes silence was up and then entering the ground would have been enough.

Why were they protesting? Irish-Scots were killed in action too surely?
purpleronnie Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Why were they protesting? Irish-Scots were killed in action too surely? I dont get it either they seem to only be concerned with the irish killed by the british army, why they cant protest in silence and respect the irish and scottish soldiers who died is beyond me.

Seems to me like they've just taken the notion of wearing a poppy and Rememberance Sunday in general as some sort of token of nationalism and are just trying to wind up Rangers. Petty Old Firm point scoring at its best.
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Regardless of politics, the Poppy in the modern age provokes memories of all wars and the tragedies they bring. Something the Irish should know a lot about given the countless thousands they likely lost in the winning of their nation. Very disappointing.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 This is why I loathe the Old Firm. Celtic have a huge problem with braindead, pro-IRA scum who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football club. I'm sure Rangers fans would behave similarly if they were asked to respect a silence for anyone or anything they considered Catholic or Republican. I personally would not wish to welcome any of these tossers to English football, this incident just shows why they should be left to rot in the SPL and denied the undeserved exposure of playing in the world's most famous league. The Poppy represents all those who have fought for our country regardless of religion, colour or creed. The silence that goes with it respects the Irish Catholic regiments that fought alongside the English soldiers and those from what was then the British Empire from Indian Muslims to African Christians. It's actually a real celebration of what we have been as a nation since the horrors of World War I, a nation where everyone can 'do their bit' for the country regardless of what they are and where they come from. It's part of what has made us a multicultural nation, something the supposedly left-wing Celtic fans would respect if they weren't such moronic scum. They aren't just spitting on the graves of the white British soldiers who fell but all those from every corner of the globe who fell fighting to keep these islands free, including their own Irish Catholic brothers. No doubt somebody will come on here and defend the actions of the Celtic fans at Falkirk nevertheless though.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Only around half of Celtic fans had taken their seats in the build-up to kickoff as the other half chose not to join with other supporters, players and officials in a minute of collective remembrance inside the stadium. That, of course, is their democratic right, fought for by the generations they chose not to honour. However, there can be no excuse for the couple of dozen rabble rousers who chose their time in the car park to belt out a Republican anthem as Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell was spotted on television shaking his head in disbelief. It was a selfish and shameful gesture that desecrated the memory of those who made the greatest sacrifice of all, including those Celtic players, the official Parkhead website poignantly reminded us yesterday, who fell in the First World War. Daily Record sums it pretty well I reckon.
