Tilley Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Katy, Fi, Lisa et al. The GHD IV mini stylers are £106 on the official site and about £85 on a couple of the others, Is £85 the cheapest I will be able to get them for without going on a dodgy site? Thankingyou.

Not sure but cant see youd get them any cheaper than that but would just say I think GHD's are massively overpriced and have a habit of blowing up just after the 12 month warranty period ends... I had 2 pairs blow and it was featured on Watchdog a while back. Ive got some Remmingtons that were less than GHDs and honestly work better IMO. Not much help to you I know

Thankingyou. GHD are fantastic. £85 sounds like a very good deal. Obviously pointless getting them from the official site, but I'd guard against getting some very cheap and dodgy rip-offs. I've got mine from Amazon in the past, and they've been fine, but Amazon are advertising them for more than £85 at the moment. One word of warning with GHD stylers... they are known (I'm sure it's a slight risk... but one worth being aware of all the same) for 'blowing-up' even when turned off but still plugged into the mains!!! It's never happened to me, but it did to one of my friends. ALWAYS make sure you unplug them at the mains. I also found getting a glass 'worktop saver' mat (Tesco, etc, do 'em) really useful as it means you can put them onto another surface while they're still hot without too much risk.

Get a two year warranty if anything goes wrong.

They look fine. Just make sure you keep the receipt. Must admit, any pairs of GHDs I've had have always lasted at least 3 years (I don't use them daily though) but, as Lou said, they're not known for their reliability so hang on to the documentation.
AMYB101_LCFC Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 £80 odd is a bargain for GHDs they are bloody amazing! Mine were like £150 I think. Like everyone has said they do tend to break easily. I've had mine for nearly two years and they seem fine but one of my mates managed to break two pairs. It's alright if you have the warranty though cuz they should just send you a new pair
lavrentis Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Remember seeing one in House of Fraser for £65 or £85 I think, forgot which, while back. GHD's are the ultimate of hair straigners though
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Straighteners? You're better than that Tilley.
Samilktray Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Miss using mine tbh. God knows why I get these random urges to shave my hair off, always regret it the next hour.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 GHDs are heroic for uni hair. I miss the times when I could use mine. This short, respectable hair lark is awful.
Finnegan Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 I can just hear Talking Balls and Bentley's Roof laughing at us from here.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 I can just hear Talking Balls and Bentley's Roof laughing at us from here. Talking Balls aren't really rivals. They're harmless, like Coventry. Bentleys Roof on the other hand, they're full of wankers who get carried away at every opportunity. Benders, I hate them like I hate Stoke.
BoneDog Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 I used to always have the shaved back and sides with a bit on top but I can't be arsed to go hairdressers nowadays. Not been for over a year and now got hair like frickin Frodo off Lord of the Rings, but a bit more manly

Thankingyou. As some of the others have already pointed out, yes that is a bargain. Knowing about the 'blowing up', I took a gamble on a GHD copy from ebay, that had excellent feedback, and lots of it. I've had them for about 4 years know, and I still love them. Having said that, if anyone wanted to ever buy some GHDs for me, I wouldn't refuse. On a side note, when Sir F had his hair longer, he point blank refused to let me straighten his hair. How mean is that!!
ACF Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Where I work, GHD's are like $80. And we're not exactly a cheap place to go too. I think it must be a different one to what you want though...

ACF Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 No, it's the same thing. I was wrong. VS Sasoon. Whoops.
Guest Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 I was wrong. VS Sasoon. Whoops. Fatal error there. Or is it just a ruse to hide your more feminine side.........
skinnydipper Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 GBH, GSOH, GPRS are acronyms I' m familiar with but never EVER have I heard of GHDs
ACF Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 LISA- I do somtimes straighten with my sister's straightner. Thinking of getting a bit shorter ATM.
Guest Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 LISA-I do somtimes straighten with my sister's straightner. Thinking of getting a bit shorter ATM. There is nothing wrong with it. I so wanted to straighten Sir F's hair.
AmericanScott Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 My girlfriend has the latest GHDs. She spent £140 on them. I must admit, they are very good considering they work wonders on my hair.
