The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Ive met, in order, colin mcrae, jill dando, mike reid, tom law (p beale eastenders) and mancini. Met jill dando in 98 in tunisia. She got us back on the catamaran we'd just got off so they could film the holiday program. Mum spoke to her for about 2hrs and she was very down to earth. The day of our cup replay I was walking around picadilly in manchester with my brother and missis looking for a spoons breakfast. We overtook some foreigners and looked across and saw it was mancini, kidd and some italians. I went upto him shook his hand and unzipped my jacket revealing my leicester shirt! I said, 'hello roberto, im a leicester fan!' (what else do u say?!) The bodyguards jumped a bit as I unzipped my jacket! It was funny to see some mancs walking down the road staring at me as im posing in my shirt for a picture!(my profile pic) Asked him if they were going to lose, to which he replied 'i hope not!' then just wished him luck n that was that!
gazfox9 Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Maybe not an A-lister , but James Redmond (hollyoaks and casualty) was on his stag do when I was in Ibiza a few years ago. stayed in our hotel and he was a genuine top bloke. Had a kick about with him and his mates in a brits v spaniads match.
Smudge Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 The most famous person I've met, is Frank Sinatra. I met him in a restaurant in Rancho Mirage, CA. He came over to our table and we were introduced to him by the owner. While living in the Palm Springs area I also met Bob Hope, Gerald Ford, Stevie Wonder Jack Nicklaus, plus many tennis stars. I used to travel back to England for very short trips and was fortunate enough to fly on the Concorde several times where I met Elton John on two occasions. As we deplaned, I asked him where he was going on to and he said he had a private jet waiting for him to go to Atlanta, I said great, you can drop me off in Virginia. He gave me an 'I don't think so look'.We were sitting in the bar of the Marriott Hotel near Yosemite and in walks Billy Idol with his entourage. I chatted to him for a while, terrific guy.Like Babylon I also met David Prowse, he and his wife/girlfriend sat next to met and my mate in a South London pub. My son was about 12 at the time and he was kind enough to give me a signed Darth Vader photo.I could go on, I hope this doesn't sound like I'm bragging, I've just been very lucky in my life; just a working class bloke from Lestoh with some stories to tell.
