AoWW Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 Meltis New Berry Fruits I love these (well, I used to - why are they now worse?) but can't seem to find anywhere that sells them anymore.
Daggers Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 I love these (well, I used to - why are they now worse?) but can't seem to find anywhere that sells them anymore. Withdrawn from market, relaunched after seven-odd years without the Meltis name and made in Holland. Wife returned from Sainsburys with a box of Fruit Jellies: 'for God's sake woman, they aren't the same thing'.

Mind you - the king of jelly sweets comes from Lakeland. Very similar to Meltis New Berry Fruits (but vastly more expensive) but with Cointreau in the crunchy centre bit. Bliss.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 Jeremy Kyle. The guy needs a smack. Used to be able to watch that, now its cringeworthy. I'm waiting on the day when some youngster, wearing a burburry cap slashes him round the face. And i hope it's on TV Another thing is Facebook. Why they made it so you can tag people in photos. As if i want reminding of that drunken night.
Leicfox Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 I've just read a book i picked up from the £1 shop and it's so thoroughly enjoyable. I thought i'd share it with you, with me copying a piece each day (if i have time). This will bring back a few memories for a few on here. Here goes. Oh the authors of the book are Wayne Williams & Darren Allen. Bodies - Jump Suits When you tuck in a shirt, eventually it's likely to come untucked. So you tuck it in again. Not really much of a problem. But clearly in the late 1980's it was a major concern for women, because they went out and bought bodies. Not from Burke and Hare, but more likely from Top Shop. Bodies were essentially fancy leotards that women wore away from the gym. They were skin-tight undergarments worn as overgarments and fastened at the crotch with poppers. They stopped the untucked look, but when a women worn one she was guaranteed to go un****ed too, as they were pretty much the modern day equivalent to the chastity belt. As if bras weren't complicated enough, here was another set of obstacles for the impatient man to try and overcome before getting down to business. Assuming a date got that far of course, and he didn't get bored and go home while waiting for the girl to do herself up in the toilets.
stez Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 cars were rubbish in the olden days. but i still loved breaking down in the rain, and my feet getting wet due to the leaking floor and having to start it with a hammer. cars nower days are boring and reliable!

As they where never better and you're just having a moan you should have put this in the grinding gears topic. And hoping someone has their faced slashed is a sick wish.
stez Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 recycling is rubbish nower days, you used to get paid for taking your pop bottles back to the chippy. now you get fined if you put a yoghurt pot in the wrong bin, by error or design.

Woohooo - I've just discovered that my local shop has now started selling New Berry Fruits. They're just as good as the old ones as far as I can tell.

AoWW Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Lies. Not if they're life the pack I got given at Xmas. What was different about your ones?
Daggers Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 What was different about your ones? The texture of the sugar coating of the bit which holds the liquid. The size of the sugar grains.
AoWW Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 The texture of the sugar coating of the bit which holds the liquid. The size of the sugar grains. Pfft, some folks are just bloody fussy. They taste (and have the same texture) just like the original ones, in my opinion.
