Bypassing The Office Website Blockerer

Recommended Posts

Posted

Our IT boss has now blocked the internet, and we can only access websites that they allow us to.

All I know is that the sour faced which went on tools - inernet options - and did something from there.

Is there away that I can continue to visit the delights of such sites as FT, Facebook etc...without them knowing?

My IT knowlege is limited so be gentle....

Or do I have to get a new job?

Only today this was in the news, apparently kids in schools are endangering themselves (whatever that means) by using proxys to play games

go for it

They're probably routing you through a limiting internal proxy or something, try going to connections > LAN settings and unticking every box apart from "automatically detect settings"

No its not that, as there was nothing ticked in the first place? When you try to visit a site, a box pops up called 'content advisor' and you need to enter a password. This obviously makes visiting proxy server websites impossible.

Switching your proxy off will more than likely work (Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Setting, untick 'Use Proxy for LAN')

Sometimes these options are disabled but there will more than likely be a file somewhere on your PC to enable these, someone will know where this is for your company.

Just be warned - Proxy's are there for a reason and if you switch it off and get a virus you will be in big trouble

Well the box was already unticked, so i ticked it and it started working??!! Will they be able to see that I've done this? To be clear....the box says'Use a Proxyserver for your LAN' and in the port box it says '80'.

I'm currently using my phone.

I used to work as a network administrator in both the public and private sector, most IT departments have a list of people who have been given access to the internet. This is normaly signed off by a line manager.

They are also able access what sites each user visits and for how long they were on each site. To enable access both the client and server settings need to changed and this is normaly only allowed if you have a administrator password.

If you somehow do gain access (I doubt this though as most IT security systems are quite resilent)most companies will regard this as a breach of comapany rules and you will be displined and potentially sacked.
