A3 Printer

I'm looking to buy a good A3 printer to allow me to print out my boards and other things for my Graphic Design course, however I've no idea which one to get as for every one that I think looks the best when I find it, there are always bad reviews. I'm not going to be printing out photo's all the time so I'm hoping the ink situation of a lot of them won't be a problem but who knows with these things...

Does anyone know a bit about A3 printers or have any suggestions on which one I should go for? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We have one at work.

All I can tell you is that its larger than an A4 printer

Hope that helped.

Brother DCP-6690CW

Colour inkjet (set of four cartridges are £11 off amazon), A3 scanner and memory card reader. Costs £265 though. we have one at work and its a good reliable printer better than the HP shite we had before

I work for a print company if printing A3 i would recommend a laser printer, there not the cheapest but the quality you get is alot better than an inkjet. but if you want a good inkjet the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 is good, it has individual cartridges as well so there pretty cheap to replace.

Epson 1400 is a good A3 printer, prints CD's & DVD's too.

I was looking at something more like this, not the all-in-one printers as they would give lesser quality prints, or at least that's what I'm told.

The problem with the Epson 1400 that I've read though is that it guzzles ink... now I don't know if that's just cause the user has been printing nothing but large format photo's, in which case I'm not surprised it'll have used up all the ink with the size of the cartridges, or whether it's just normal use it can't hack. I am tempted to get this one though just to try it out...

Have you got/worked with one and if so, what're your perceptions on the ink usage?

Cheap cartridges? All the Epson ones I've seen have been over £10 and some over £15 each... and with the amount of times people have been having to refill them, it's not that cheap.

Or is there a different set with the R1900?

Ah yes, do they work OK? I've been told that sometimes they just don't cut it...
