The OP joined yesterday, and first up has asked for help writing a report of a Leicester game. 2. He / She sounds like they might be on the young side. 3. The club announced in the programme for the Reading game a competition for under 14s to write a match report of a Leicester game. 4. Maybe we could be a little less prissy and a little more welcoming. Jake, what I suggest you do is have a go at a report and then post it on the forum here, explaining why you're writing it, and hopefully you will get some helpful suggestions. In your report, try to pick out the key moments in the game, the things which happened that caused excitement at the time, and try to write it so the people reading will feel like they were really there. If you're 12 and writing it for school or for the competition I'm sure people will give advice, but if it turns out you're 45 and writing for the Leicester Mercury as a full-time job then frankly you're on your own. Does that sound fair?

I think if someone wants to be taken seriously and especially when asking advice about the written word then they should take the effort to write a proper sentence out after all they're expecting people to take time to respond. It's an cliché but you have to earn respect.

Kid should just send it to leftsideisoverhere or someone privately so our favourite Argentinian centre forward doesn't slaughter him

Mention the scuffle between Dyer and the Reading player and how Tabb was injured in the resulting drop ball. Makes it exciting. Best of luck writing your match report. I wrote one for college before that horrible Wednesday game a couple of years ago (1-3 pretty much relegated us).
