Uncle Monty Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Weale - 6. Some decent saves, but looked a bit shaky at times especially when he nearly did a Barthez . Neilson - 5. Constantly out run a skinned, mind you Burke is a handful for anyone, wasn't disgraceful. Hobbs - 5. Looked quite composed as captain although how he and Morrison kept letting their forwards in the box in the first half was unsettling, much better in the second half. Morrison - 5. Ok performance. Solano - 6. Nice distribution cool as a cucumber. King - 5. Don't really remember seeing him do much. Wellens - 6. Like the rest of the team in the first half woeful but was the heartbeat in the second half. Was running the show towards the end, deserved a goal. Spearing - 5. Gave the ball away too much, but will reserve judgment of his ability after seeing him play more. N'guessan - 4. Shite, but had very little service. Gallagher- 7. Only good player consistently through the game, made many chances and always looked dangerous. Waghorn -6. Ran his heart out but produced little, service was crap in the first half. Subs Howard - 7. Came on, bagged a goal and held the ball up well. Vaughan - 6. Squandered a good chance. Adams N/A/ Horrible football in the first half, turned it around in the second with some really nice passing and attacking play. Cardiff played some cynical football, brought Vaughan down in a clear goal scoring chance on the edge of the box. Sat deep at the end and ran the clock down. We should have done much better in the dying minutes, why didn't we just keep putting th ball in th box rather than just dancing around the edge of it???
flanimal Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Weale 6 - standard performance, could've done better with Cardiff goals Solano 6 - average Morrison 5 - not as good as usual Hobbs 6 - did OK, not as comanding Nielson 5 - surprised he did so well King 6 - can hardly remember anything about his performance Wellens 8 - only player that seemed up for it Spearing 6 - unimpressed so far, but give him a go N'Guessan 5 - didn't add a lot Waghorn 5 - Uneffective, needs a strike partner Gallagher 6 - Usual, did OK Howard 6 - Good goal, good desire, still fouls too often Vaughan 5 - nothing special Adams 5 - Didn't add a lot, energetic
Head Honcho Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Weale - 6 Didn't fill me with any confidence Neilson - 4 Rubbish Hobbs - 6 Looked to be in control for most of the match but Neilson's ineptitude must have put him on edge! Morrison - 6 Did Ok and distributed the ball well but nothing special. Solano - 6 Would like to see him come forward a bit more. King - 5 It was only when I heard his name mentioned on Sky that I remembered he was playing. Wellens - 7 Probably our best player and was involved in much of our play but much of it to no avail. Spearing - 6 Much better in the second half and can see something in the guy. N'guessan - 2 Woeful Woeful Woeful. There was a period of play when he was literally stuck to the spot for about ten minutes and was totally out of his depth Gallagher- 7. Ran his socks off and could have been our best player but wasted too many chances which to be honest he created anyway so maybe I'm being too critical. Waghorn -6 Tried his best with what was on offer. Subs Howard - 7 Ruffled a few feathers and was a right handful best player in the second half easily Vaughan - 5 Didn't do much Adams - 5 Few good touches when he came on but wasn't on that long.

RobHawk Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 N'guessan was terrible!! Didnt look interested! made the wrong decisions constantly. Didn't seem to have the nouse to get past the defender and really looked unfit. Lost nearly everything in the air and was very disapointing because he had a chance to show everyone what he can do! On that performance not alot! Everyone else did ok! Neilson had a shocking 1st ten minutes but then settled into the game a bit. I dont really rate him but playing out of position he did ok! Referree was shit, Cardiff fans were awful for 70mins then woke up when down to 10!
Shrenchel Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Can never be fvcked to do the whole thing but gotta disagree with some of the ratings for N'guessan, thought he did alright. Yeah, he made some mistakes and failed to beat his man a couple of times but caused them as many problems as anyone else first half imo, was genuinely suprised to see him go off. To give him a 2 is a fvcking joke, definitely put in a better shift than Spearing first half.

I remember N'Guessan getting in behind on 2 or 3 occasions, but didn't really contribute much apart from that. He needed to show a bit more nous when closing down his marker - frustratingly, he allowed their right back to easily spin him to either clear the ball or pass to one of his team mates. Spearing looked fairly lively I thought. Seemed to get into some good positions and was fairly tidy on the ball. Just lacked that final ball.
Walshy5 Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Quick question who played left back and who played right out of neilson and solano?

He made a couple of runs into the box and was tucked up every time. He spent the remainder of the first half almost glued to the spot (I did not see him making one run) asking for the ball I'll grant but nobody was going to pass the ball to him due to him being shite!!!
Head Honcho Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Quick question who played left back and who played right out of neilson and solano? Neilson was on the left and was hopeless tbh Burke had him in his pocket all game.

He didnt even look ready to receive the ball. Flat footed and Glued to the spot is a good discription. i remember him having 2 runs into the box, 1 he got a cross into the box but the 2nd he was easily tackled by the full back after a poor touch. I honestly thought he was awful!
Guest Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Weale 6 Solano 6 Morro 7 Hobbs 6 Neilson 5 King 6 Wellens 7 Spearing 6.5 N'Guessan 4.5 - Usually a fan of his but he was frustrating last night, I remember one particular incident in the first half where he clearly shouldve been making a run to support Spearing but just didn't for whatever reason Waggy 6.5 Gally 6 Howard 6.5 Vaughan 6.5 Adams 6
bigneville Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Weale - 7 - Could tell he was nervous after his mistake on Saturday, but had a decent game without having much to do. Kicking still needs to improve slightly. Neilson - 6 - Could tell he was rusty after having not played for a while, but once settled into the game he didn't do bad at all, considering he was being played out of position. Certainly preferred him to McGivern Hobbs - 7.5 - Looked comfortable throughout. Morrison - 6.5 - Was troubled by Etuhu and didn't look comfortable at all. Gave his man far too much space. Solano - 7 - Solid again. King - 6.5 - Very quiet second half, but stuck his task decently. Provided some vital balance for the midfield three. Wellens - 8 - MOTM for me. Was always looking to create and move the ball, everything we did well last night came from Wellens. Spearing - 7.5 - Thought he was very good, worked hard and linked the midfield and front line very well. Gallacher - 6 - Thought he didnt have an impact on the game. He needs to realise that when we have Howard on the pitch, sometimes its best to put the ball into the box. Waghorn - 6 - Worked hard, but just needs to anticipate and read the game a little better N'Guessan - 4 - When he tries, he is a threat. Shame he didnt try for 40 of the 45 minutes. Subs Howard - 7 - Provided a different option which worked well. A good impact sub Vaughan - 6.5 - Didn't really get involved too much, extra 0.5 for the quality run to produce the red-card Adams - 6 - Didn't get involved well enough
