Cat Burger Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 I watched my Dad die painfully and horribly because he smoked. So I'm a no.
Haydos Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 That New York thing is ridiculous. I'm 21 now and smoked socially since I was about 16. It was pretty much just on a friday/saturday night when I was down the pub. As I got older and pub visits became more frequent so did the smoking. By the time I'd finished 6th form I was a full time smoker, cig and a pint, cig while driving, cig breaks at work, all lovely. Then back in October I'm at a mates Birthday and I'm outside having a fag (never liked smoking indoors, cool fresh air and a fag go together hand in hand for some reason ) and, for no reason at all I suddenly decide I don't like the taste and I was really conscious of how I smelt when I went back inside. I went down about an hour later for another one and lit it up and got the same again, it made me gag. Haven't touched one since then and I really don't like the smell any more. From time to time I'll crave the satisfaction it gives you, the relaxation, but never the actual cigarette. Can't imagine smoking again now, think I'd throw up. Anything similar happened to anyone else?
ajthefox Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 Hadn't ever tried one until last year when I got drunk and thought I might as well try. Didn't like it and regret ever doing it but whatever.

Anything similar happened to anyone else? I'd love for something similar to happen to me. I'm trying to quit but i have no motivation and self belief. Have you ever tried the Nicorette gum? Expensive but gives you the same satisfaction as smoking. Well done and keep it up As Cat Burger, my father passed away because of smoking. So whenever i smoke i feel as if he'd be more than disappointed in me.
MikeyT Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 I quit 3 months ago. One of the best decisions I've made.
Samilktray Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 Quitting is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 I'm not a smoker but a lot of mates of mine who were smokers have now quit as it's becoming to expensive and hard work to even smoke any where over here now.

I just wish I still smoked for about 5 mins then I forget about it. Only happens when I'm in a situation when a fag would have used to have been perfect. I can't really empathise that well with other people trying to quit as it was weird with me and not even slightly a struggle.
