acooling08 Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Well I always thought it really stank and looked nasty then I did Science at school and thought why the hell would anyone take it up? Never smoked, never will.
Shrenchel Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Well I always thought it really stank and looked nasty then I did Science at school and thought why the hell would anyone take it up? Never smoked, never will. Statistically smokers have larger penises. It's unclear whether this is causal.
StanSP Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Never smoked when I'm sober, and haven't always smoked when I'm drunk. Only had a couple of cigarettes in my life. Never liked it either time.
Bert Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Tried it once when I was younger. Never again. That was enough to put me off for life. Don't actually see the point of it. Everyone has their own mind and can do what they want. They're not illegal barring age limits, so if people want to smoke well that's their own decision. I do find it strange/pathetic how people start smoking because they're "stressed" about something though. What's that going to solve?

lou Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Used to smoke 20-30 a day for years... gave up when I found I was pregnant with my Son then 18 months later started again..... gave up when pregnant with my Eldest Daughter and havent smoked since.... 16 and a half years. Still get the odd urge for a fag when out drinking but the ban has helped that! Couldnt afford to smoke now anyway. Im not a massive Anti-smoker just dont like the smell on my clothes etc and am glad its banned from pubs etc. Wouldnt like my kids to smoke to be honest. Each to their own
lavrentis Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Tried it before but not a fan. Not something I'm willing too spend a lot of money on tbh..
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Don't smoke, never tried it, never will. Never had the temptation.
Guest Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Reckon the amount of people flouting the ban is very low considering how many people smoke. At the football aside, I can't really remember seeing anyone 'flagrantly' flouting the ban for months and months. It's certainly a lot more respected than the bans are in France/Italy/Portugal/Spain and I'd say there's probably far fewer breaking the law than in relation to road/football ground/alcohol/copyright etc legislation. Use railways stations a lot, and you'll see people taking the piss. They know it's wrong, as they soon try and hide the fact they've been smoking if the BTP show up! Then there's a tunnel near the Broadmarsh in Nottingham where thick chavs congregate to smoke under the "It is illegal to smoke on these premises" sign, because they can't be arsed to walk 10ft further down where they can still smoke under shelter without stinking the bus station and shopping centre out. I also see quite a few blokes in liveried vans smoking; quite often they're also on their phones. Who says blokes can't multi-task!!
LCFC-ARAB Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Used to love a cigar before the smoking ban came in Had about 2 since
Alexikokopops Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 I smoke Camel Lights. I try to be considerate to non-smokers. I may sometimes fail. I apologise if I do. I'm the worst kind of smoker and EX Smoker! it's a disgusting habit, I detest it being blown in my face, makes you stink like you wouldn't believe and f**ks your health up big style! I really don't understand with all the education and information and the facts (even though I knew about them before) and the fact it's about £7.00+ a pack why on earth young people start these days Because it makes us look cooler Jay! You should know that as an ex-smoker! There's no evidence for it, but it is scientific fact. Tried it once when I was younger. I don't know about anyone else, but it's a cracking excuse to go outside and have a ten minute break if work's getting a bit hectic Obviously I could do this without smoking, but I'm going to ignore that. It's like comfort eating for people who like cancer rather than diabetes. Cancer is just cooler, which is why one of the Zodiac signs is named after it.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 Despite a story about this meeting being run in the Mercury in advance, the outcome was disappointing for those involved: http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/Protest-smoking-ban-fails/article-2012446-detail/article.html I like how he blames apathy. The headline should have been 'apathy blamed for people not caring' It's probably only me that finds this funny
Benji Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 Don't smoke, never tried it, never will. Never had the temptation. Same sentiments, never even held a fag let alone took a drag

Daggers Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 I used to have carrybags of dog-ends I'd salvaged from pub ash trays, such was the glamorous life of the homeless smoker.
AoWW Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 I prefer smoking guns these days. You're moving to Nottingham?
Daggers Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 You're moving to Nottingham? In our new hyse, we shall be mainly fetching dinner from the field.
AoWW Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 In our new hyse, we shall be mainly fetching dinner from the field. Look, I've told you before - leave the ducks / chickens / donkeys / sheep alone! Poor little buggers!
AoWW Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 This could be pissing off a few smokers, I'd imagine. The fact that New York is introducing a ban on smoking outdoors (well, in many outdoor places, anyway).... and speculation that other countries may follow suit. What made me giggle is that it'll still be ok to smoke on a "median strip" (central reservation, to you and I)... er, yes, 'cause that's just where you're likely to stand and have a fag!
Kent Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 I smoke occasionally on a night out but I'll often go weeks or months without one. I probably average 10 cigarettes a year, if that. I thought it just about warranted the 'Social' vote.
