Anstey Fox Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Despite being told by the South Wales Traffic Agency earlier this week that there would be no closure of the M4, as there had been last time we went to Cardiff. I have this afternoon received a phone call from the same Agency to say that there will be a full closure of the M4 between Junction 24 & 28 eastbound between 20;00 - 06:00. This means a large and lengthy detour through Newport We better win.
kylestyle06 Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 So on the way back it's going to be hectic? But okay the way there?
Anstey Fox Posted 7 May 2010 Author Posted 7 May 2010 So on the way back it's going to be hectic? But okay the way there? Yes, and time consuming
Katy Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 So on the way back it's going to be hectic? But okay the way there? If it says it's shut from 8pm then yes, unless you arrive there massively late.
C-man Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Is there any way of getting into South Wales without paying a toll?
Fosse Boy Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Is there any way of getting into South Wales without paying a toll? Try going via the M50/A40.
cosb6 Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Another question (it's been discussed elsewhere). If you're not travelling by Coach (i'm not), then where are you planning to Park? I've looked on Google Maps, and there's a BIG Industrial area just to the south, and what looks like Permit Only Residential to the North. Any plans anyone?
C-man Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Try going via the M50/A40. Cheers Now gotta find a way round these roadworks on the M4... With regard to parking, I'm heading for the city centre. Might get lucky at the Uni, might not. Either way we'll be near a pub faster.
cosb6 Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 My thoughts too.... reckoning on leaving Midlands by 2pm ish.... give plenty of time!

hebangsthedrums Posted 10 May 2010 Posted 10 May 2010 Only if you fancy staying in Cardiff until 5.00 am. Yes had a look myself when i got home yesterday. In which case anyone who would like a lift from the Slough/Windsor area is more than welcome, all I ask is no smoking & petrol share...
martyn Posted 10 May 2010 Posted 10 May 2010 There is a national express coach that leaves for London at 2:50am. Might be of use to some.
Foxy1984 Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Another question (it's been discussed elsewhere). If you're not travelling by Coach (i'm not), then where are you planning to Park? I've looked on Google Maps, and there's a BIG Industrial area just to the south, and what looks like Permit Only Residential to the North. Any plans anyone? We parked on Craddock Street (or somewhere near there), just off Ninian Park Road last away match. Lots of street parking available round there.
cosb6 Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 We parked on Craddock Street (or somewhere near there), just off Ninian Park Road last away match. Lots of street parking available round there. All that has gone now (residents only 8am - 10pm). Gonna be harder, but I've been told WEST of the stadium, away from the City, is fine! I'll find somewhere to abandon the car!
