mattlcfc77 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Jack Hobbs. He's a legend and a massive player for us. I heard there's been bids from Premier League teams??? He came over at the end and clapped the fans for a while - hopefully its just his loyalty Think he'll stay?
wakeyfox01 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Why everyone suddenly thinks all of our best players are going to leave because we lost last night I don't know. Hobbs has openly said that he wants to make himself a legend here, I can also see him being captain next year and he only signed a 4 year contract last summer which shows his commitment to us. Also just because someone makes a bid for him does not mean we're going to accept it or that he wants to go. We turned down a number of bids for Mattock before he went, it was only when he handed in a request we let him leave, same with Gradel. Hobbs seems like a down to earth honest lad and I can't see him leaving us to go and sit on the bench somewhere else. Don't panic!!
flanimal Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 We'll definitely get one more season from them, I think. There's unfinished business with that defeat now. Plus, I think most Premier League teams will be seduced by World Cup players.
Ozwin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 If he leaves it won't be for cheap. He's worth £2m+ easily now.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 If he leaves it won't be for cheap. He's worth £2m+ easily now. 2m?? Bargain.

He'll be made club captain next year and will definitely be here for the long haul.
flanimal Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 When does the transfer open? I'm very interested in what kind of players come in. Presuming there will be some?
StanSP Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 When does the transfer open? I'm very interested in what kind of players come in. Presuming there will be some? July 1st usually. Transfers can be agreed before then though. They can't actually move to the club until then however. Like Beckford with Leeds > Everton.

Like Beckford with Leeds > Everton. Is Beckford definitely going to join Everton? I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Sky Sports News or read newspapers since we lost in case they show footage, then I'll start crying again!
Narborough_fox Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Why has everyone said he will go we had a tremendous season and next year hopefully a better one Hobbs and Co. will want to finish off the job!
StanSP Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Is Beckford definitely going to join Everton? I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Sky Sports News or read newspapers since we lost in case they show footage, then I'll start crying again! Yeah it's about 85-90% certain he's going. Apparently he's passed a medical there and contractual terms have been agreed.

You have to expect Leeds to struggle without him. I would've fancied them to reach the play offs, but without Beckford - not so much.
CKB Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Sky Sports News or read newspapers since we lost in case they show footage, then I'll start crying again! Same here and first thing i see on the table today? Mercury, wasn't good..... Give me a couple of days and i'll be back to SSN and the papers As for the topic, i hope Hobbs will stay you never can be sure tho only takes a very eye catching bid and bye, bye
dandannieldanok Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 2m?? Bargain. Hmmm possibly, but he's nowhere near the finished article yet. He's been top-class for us but still has a lot to learn and does still make the odd mistake (e.g. no-mans land for Chopra's goal last night).
Mee Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Hmmm possibly, but he's nowhere near the finished article yet. He's been top-class for us but still has a lot to learn and does still make the odd mistake (e.g. no-mans land for Chopra's goal last night). I agree, he is still so young, but plays like a player much older than he is. As he goes through his career he will pick up tips and tricks. And as for him leaving city, i think he loves the club. I read that it was his proudest moment leading out City in the Semi final. So i think (hope) we will keep hold of him for 1+ more seasons.
Ozwin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Like someone said already it'll take a big offer for him to leave because he wants to become a legend here.
The Doctor Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Hmmm possibly, but he's nowhere near the finished article yet. He's been top-class for us but still has a lot to learn and does still make the odd mistake (e.g. no-mans land for Chopra's goal last night). that wasn't just his mistake - it was bruce's as well. Poor communication meant hobbs stepped up, bruce didn't and played chopra onside. He'll stay though.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 If Curtis Davies was worth £8m 3 years ago, Jack Hobbs is worth at least £5m.
martyn Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I know they have been great for Birmingham this year but if Roger Johnson was worth £5m and Scott Dann £4m, then £2m for Hobbs seems on the low side.
Jodranadinho Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Hobbs is here for the long run hopefully His name will be amongst the greats such as Ade Akinbiyi
Yojoe36 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I will be really suprised if he does leave. But he is a quality player and I would love him to stay
