davieG Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 In my eyes he has until January to sort his game out, if it still isn't working, let him go. I agree with the idea that Sousa's gameplan will suit him better, and so he might prove us all wrong, 'cause he was bloody awful last season. You can't just let him go you've got to find someone who's prepared to take on his 2 year contract, if you don't use these players or improve them you're left with DJ Campbell type situations.
smallpauldj Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 i remember when Jack Hobbs joined us and didn't look good enough and look at him now Kermit never had a chance and neither did DJ. match practice is important, DJ was outstanding at Blackpool so there is no reason he cant be for us and maybe if given a few run outs from the start we might see a different Kermit lets just hope he takes no more pens but i take my hat off for him having the guts to take one in the first place.

I dont ever remember Hobbs not looking good enough, except when he filled in at right back once. Kermorgant played 20 times for us last year, and had a handful of average games, so I'd argue he did get a chance.

It doesn't look like he's happy or gelled with the squad at all, and he's commented that in hindsight moving to Leicester was probably a mistake, so I'm sure the club and player could quite easily come to a mutual agreement to end his contract now. I doubt he'd want to hang around in Leicester haggling over a severance deal, if the club say they want rid I'm sure he'd be straight down to Dover and on the first ferry home.

I doubt whether we can afford any severance pay up front, it would have to be a fair portion of his 2 year contract, seems like we're even struggling to afford the postage for the STs. I think I prefer to reserve judgement to see if Sousa can get more from him.
maddog Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Yanns not going anywhere, our squad is thin at best, strikers are now the weakest area of our squad, we know we don't have big money if any to spend on a new striker so we need him. Howard is another year older and will cope even less this season than he did last.

I think it would be dependent if he had a trial/move lined up back in France. If he did then I doubt he'd hang around for much severance pay at all, probably just something the equivalent of a signing-on fee. I think the club would rather do that than pay his wages for another 2 years. However it's a moot point at the minute because Sousa may want him to stay.
Salieri Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Kermorgant (and DJ) are still our players, and with a relatively thin squad we need everyone on board. Last season is history, if one or both start the season with the right attitude and can contribute positively then it can only be a good thing. Kermorgant didnt want to miss that pen, it was just a very bad decision at the time. Yes, i realise he didn't look fantastic prior to that anyway, but to be fair (like DJ) he never had a run in the side. It's last chance saloon admittedly, but i reckon Sousa is going to want to give everybody a fair crack, and we should too. (Any more moaning from either and i retract the previous post unreservedly )
