My favorate has to be Taggart: The guy always wore his heart on his sleave and would have killed him self to make that tackle.

I think the most talented has to be thatcher:

It was over 5 years now since elliott scored those 2 goals against Tranmere, but Elliott would be my overall choice, but not in last 5 years.

Taggs, was Leicester through and through. Formed a formidable partnership with matty elliot. Will never forget that game against Everton at the walkers where he scored two goals, the start of the Gerry Gerry Gerry Chant.

Also stuck one on wise last year, good lad, anyone who does that is a great man!

Hi - new to all this. I reckon some of City's defenders over the last few years have been awesome - if not for their culture but for their grit and hardness. Elliott, Taggart, Walsh et al. Must have struck fear into the opposition

Really liked Prior as well when he was at the club. But have to say all time true favourite hardman (excluding Walsh, as he is a transcendental legend) has to be the man Jimmy Willis. Loving that chin!

Poor old Matty Elliott. The most sucesful captain in the clubs history, who scored two goals in a cup final for us rememeber. He was one of the most courted players in the Premiership, even Liverpool were interested! He was unbelievably composed on the ball and an amazing goal threat due to his heading ability. All this seems to be forgotten justa few years on! :cry:

Ben Thatcher 4 votes!!! He only played one season for us where we were relegated and he himself was quite inconsistent! :ermm: I just don't get it?

If you read the question though it says 'the last 5 years' Elliott was past his best when O'Neill left us, which was a shame.

Nobody's forgotten, I certainly haven't.

I voted for Elliot though I would have much rather it been a 'Vote for your favourite defensive pairing' poll... that way I could of voted for Taggart as well, who I now feel strangely guilty for not voting for. :S

Anyone remember that game a couple of seasons ago when Elliot got sent off for lamping that Charlton (?) player - beatiful right-hook and so unexpetced... lol
