Sooper Steve's shin Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 The media keeps mentioning this new 25-man squad rule that applies in the Premiership. I must have been away the day they made this announcement, because I can't remember this ever being a rule before the Craig Bellamy situation. If it's just come in this summer, there must be a load of Premiership teams with surplus "talent" that doesn't make the 25 as it seems rather a low number for me (especially when you consider some of the squad numbers that players have and the amount of players that people like Bolton, Birmingham and Blackburn seem to get through). I would be interested to know if there's a list of these culled players anywhere as I'm sure there'll be a few surprises (like Bellamy) that could do a job for us. Are players like Vaughan, Waghorn, Cleverly and Spearing getting into their squads? Surely there must be some fourth-choice keepers we could take on too as back-up to Weale?

A player doesn't have to be registered in the 25 if he is under 21. The 25 has to contain 8 Home Grown players who have been trained in England for 3 years between the ages of 16-21(i think). So players like Spearing Waghorn etc, could be named in the squad to fill that quota

There's only 3 teams that exceeded that rule Man City, Liverpool and one other, can't remember who but there's already a topic about it somewhere.
