Just watched the BBC breakfast news, about the rise in teenage football hooligans, they interviewed a couple of kids from Coventry.oh dear. They were talking about why they do it and how the authorities treat them.It was cringe worthy, and i did laugh a few times.1st time i have opened a topic so be gentle with me,im sure there might be a link on the BBC breakfast news website. Some of the things they said were.

1 We are treated worse than Paedophiles.Paedophiles have to sign a register, but dont go through what we do!!

2 We fight for Coventry to give them a good reputation!

3 We are true fans,as we do not sit on fooking forums telling people we are shit

If someone could help with the link please!

It made me laugh, that not only did they say it, but they actually believed when they said, 'we support the team by fighting for them'. What a pair of first class mugs!

"I feel like being treated like animals, really."

:crylaugh:

And being a hooligan makes you what...?

"We used to follow the older lads around and obviously, when it kicked off, we got involved."

Nice to see stupidity is passed on from one generation to the other, even if it's the only logical consequence in this affair.

"There's always a new generation coming through."

Please, use condoms.

Unfortunately we have few of our own.

Sadly yes.

I expect to see a fair number of them tomorrow morning.

Fucking tools to a man.

But does anyone else think the article is spun so it looks a bit like scaremongering by the rozzers to justify their continued overzealous policing of football matches? I mean I'm fairly certain the FSF bod would've had more to say than just "it's no longer a problem".

Perhaps, and this may be wildly naive, but perhaps this so-called "younger generation of hooligans" wouldn't be such a problem if they were allowed more freedom to express themsleves and release some energy in the stadium by bouncing around and singing. Instead, with the current situation, you've got these kids going on to the streets in search of more dangerous and violent ways to get their kicks out of football.

Not suggesting for one minute that all those who take part in football violence are all fallen angels who'd be pinnacles of society if the case were different of course, we all know that a lot involved in FV are proper simple-minded wrong'uns, but when these kinds of twats capitalise on impressionable youths who are passionate about their football club and want to express it on matchday but are prevented from doing so in a legitimate way by various factors (stewarding, health and safety laws, lack of provision for more vocal fans) then they end up being pushed into hooliganism.

Modern football is polarising fans like these. It's either sit down, shut up and buy the club merch or else you're not really wanted. I mean lads get arrested and banned for all manner of ridiculous offences that would be laughed off if they weren't football-related. These aren't hooligans, just lads being lads. But when these types of lads become just as ostracised from the mainstream as the thugs who go to football hell bent on disorder, then the lines become blurred for impressionable youths and all too often they make the wrong decision on who they side with.
