Wymsey Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Who's voted for Ron Atkinson? I did. Unless we get more talent through, we are no where near top class national football competitors.
AyewJoking Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I doubt anyone could get success out of the over paid, prima donna's that play for England. One thing is for sure, the FA will appoint a yes man and it wont be long before we are back at square one.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I just wonder whether Mourinho would be in employment once the job becomes available? Real Madrid is a tough mistress even for a man of his calibur, and I sense if the FA did the chasing he would find the job hard to resist, I sense he would like a crack at it (and with that possibly being Ronney's last world cup*, I imagine he'd realise that is the one to go for?) I guess Stuart Pearce has performed some sort of apprentaship and seems more in control at the internationa scene that he did for that brief spell he had in charge for Forest. He wouldn't be my first choice, but I feel he'd be worth a consideration. But with two years to go, I sense there will be another unseen candidate that will suddenly come to the fore and others that will fall be the way. For example, Tottenham could easily tail off towards the end of the season due to their European exploits and find themselves in 7th/8th place, with a then unhappy squad and incur a bad start to the following season which could see Harry Redknapp sacked. Equally, Steve Bruce could do something amazing with Sunderland and put his name more in the frame for the job? Wenger may decide he wants a go at the England job? Roberto Di Mateo may continue his positive start with West Brom making the FA think he is the younger Morinhio? Who knows? Last thing I would add is the with O'Neil being out of employment currently, and England tending to hire already employed managers, I doubt they would move for him - even if O'Neil does get a job (Liverpool ), he won't have been their long when the job does come up so I can't imagine he'd want to leave it. This all assumes we don't lose to Wales in the next qualifer! *true not on current form, his last world cup would be the last one unless he sorts himself out
