Why the Zayattee deal fell through

Looks like he trained with us without permission from Hull.

Not fitness or administrative issues as we were told at the time.

HULL City outcast Kamil Zayatte is facing a "pretty uncertain" future at the KC Stadium, according to boss Nigel Pearson.

The defender incurred the wrath of Pearson last month when caught in the centre of a proposed transfer to Championship rivals Leicester City.

Jumping the gun on his loan move to the Walkers Stadium, Zayatte went AWOL from the City camp while the final details of his move were finalised.

But a conclusion to the deal never materialised, and with the transfer finally called off, it is understood the Guinea international was hit with a hefty fine of about £40,000 – the maximum two weeks' wages – upon his return to East Yorkshire.

Zayatte has not played for City since the events of last month and a start during the 3-1 defeat at Doncaster in August remains his last competitive appearance.

The Mail understands the Tigers remain keen to off-load the 25-year-old, but having seen Paulo Sousa replaced by Sven-Goran Eriksson as Leicester boss, there is no hope of resurrecting a loan deal to the East Midlands club.

Breaking his silence on the matter, Pearson made no secret of his disappointment in Zayatte's actions and offered no assurances for the player's future.

"I would think his future is pretty uncertain at the minute," said the City boss.

"I wasn't happy that he trained with another club without the permission of this club. He made it very clear what his intentions were."

Pearson was quick to plan for life without Zayatte when recruiting centre-halves Anthony Gerrard and Daniel Ayala on-loan from Cardiff and Liverpool respectively.

The pairing have since formed a tight partnership with four clean sheets in eight games to close the door on Zayatte's hopes of a recall.

With only Liam Cooper and Paul McShane as potential cover, it is understood Pearson will not completely freeze out Zayatte.

But with his popularity at its lowest around the City training ground, the former Young Boys Berne defender may have played his last City game.

It doesn't say that's why it fell through though. Just that when it did fall through he got fined for buggering off to train with us without permission.

I think you need a holiday, Eastbourne perhaps? Quiet strolls on the promenade and nothing more taxing than a tea dance at the Ritz.
