Bluefoxtim Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 I bought a multi-shot firework from Morrisons and since I've been home I've read the label and it says spectators should be a minimum of 25m away. I've also got a pack of small rockets which say 5m. Now 25m, who the hell has a garden that big??? Fireworks cannot be let off in public places so that's parks out of the equation, and if you were going to the trouble of getting special permissions, you wouldn't be buying fireworks from Morrisons. Obviously they can be dangerous and safety is paramount etc etc etc, but is the 25m thing similar to a packet of nuts with 'contains nuts' labelling? My dad said they'll be fine, my mum thinks otherwise

Big Ol' Bob Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Remember to lean the rockets away from the crowd slightly, then if it does tip over it will fire away from you.
StanSP Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Remember to lean the rockets away from the crowd slightly, then if it does tip over it will fire away from you. Always aim them towards other people's gardens
kam6 Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 last time i lit a fire work, it kinda slipped and shot toward me and my family. not allowed to set the show next time
BoneDog Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 You canna beat getting some rockets on sticks and standing on top of a hill and firing them down the hill about 2 foot off the ground. Classic entertainment for the kids, they laugh their heads off ! It's probably not a good idea though because the kids might want to have a go, but if you're ever out for a romantic walk alone with the Mrs you could perhaps show off and take one with you in your pocket and surprise her. Make sure you wear gloves though. I've seen a few folk down the park get rockets fired at them in the past. Bang out of order.

My dad said they'll be fine, my mum thinks otherwise I wouldn't worry I had the same problem last year. it is best to light it and let people watch inside with the windows open. If it kicks off outside then at least you will be the only person getting hurt and no one else.

Ozwin Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 We had a firework that tipped over in our garden before, it blew a massive hole in next doors fence, made the biggest flash I've ever seen and the loudest bang I've ever heard. Couldn't hear for about an hour.
Unabomber Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 You'll be fine. A few years ago me and a few mates had some fireworks at mine and they were all fairly timid and ultimately boring, so we decided to attach a plastic pigeon to a rocket. + In our embarrassingly naive state of mind we were expecting something similar to the beginning of an of episode catch the pigeon, followed by a heroic explosion of plastic pigeon and bright lights. What actually happened was the vessel got about 10ft in the air and then plummeted, leaving us with a self-made al qaedaesque pigeon and around 2 seconds to dive out the way. Some of us got hit by the explosion, but nothing serious and anyway it served us right. So in summary, I sure you will be fine.
