Guy Posted 11 November 2010 Posted 11 November 2010 These arent my top three best bargains or flops these are just some i can think of 3 Bargains; Worthington Dickov (1st spell) King (Albeit we signed him as a schoolboy from Chelsea) 3 Bad Signings: Hossein Keobi Marcus Bent (on loan i know) DJ Campbell Me too am puzzled about your inclusion of Marcus Bent in the worst category ! If he was one of the worst three then the best list should make superior reading to what you've included, even if it is off the top of your head like you say! I thought Bent was one of the better players in that last season we've had to date in the Prem. under Micky Adams, one that we were so unlucky to get relegated with, if it wasn't for our tendency to race off to 2-3 goal leads and then let the opposition back in with as many goals against or more - ie Wolves (03- up, lost 4-3!) amongst a few other similar games like at M'Boro'! Bent then went on to do well for Everton under David Moyes if I recall right. He's always been a bit of a footballing nomad though generally but certainly he doesn't belong in the worst category of the City hall of (in)fame, not by a long strech!.
rico Posted 11 November 2010 Posted 11 November 2010 He was ineffective whilst he was with us but thats just my humble opinion. Ineffective? he scored 10 goals in the Premiership, thought we should have signed him up myself

Thracian Posted 11 November 2010 Posted 11 November 2010 Arthur Rowley joined city for £14,000 and continued on a phenomenal goalscoring run which broke all sorts of records. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/record-reign-Leicester-City-s-Arthur-Rowley/article-1529961-detail/article.html During the real halcyon days of the sixties Davie Gibson cost £25,000 or so from Hibs and was the best midfield player we ever had by a distance. Perhaps Muzzy would deserve third place for what we achieved under MON but I'd probably go for the charismatic Derek Dougan who was such a freescoring entertainer and cost around £40,000 for his two seasons at Filbert Street. Kalac, Akinbiyi and DJ were about as bad for us in terms of value and achievement but I really can't stand thinking about the money we've wasted.
SeattleShane Posted 12 November 2010 Posted 12 November 2010 six goals in 25 games isn't the greatest but also not too shabby either for a 33 year old who cost just £50k. Also he was put in the shadow by the emerging talent of JJ. Certainly not the greatest ever signing but not in the same league as others. Whilst posting another few I forgot bad value. Nicky Mohan £300k and an absolute bag of cack. Little wanted Gareth Southgate for about £1m but was told we could not afford him so we got this joker instead. Middlesbrough must have been pissing themselves wondering how they actually managed to get any money at all for him. Rob Johnson & Tony Spearing. Not expensive but incredibly shit. Just awful. Edited for two good value. Paul Cooper & Kevin Poole. Both excellent keepers. Poole cost just £40k and I believe Cooper may well have been a freebie. Who saves penaltys Paul Cooper, Paul Cooper, remember that one?????
