Recommended Posts

Hi im coming to watch the f.a cup game against city in january and decided to treat my gf to the weekend away ( she bought the tickets so kind of a deal ) i wanna stay around the leicester area so i dont have to drive so far on the sunday but dont know the area at all, i normally just drive to the match then back home again same day.

So anyone recomend places to stay? places to eat? places to go out and do something during the day? would be great cheers

Maiyango is expensive but really nice - 10 min drive from the walkers too.

To eat try The Case - it's above the Champagne bar near St Martins - www.thecase.co.uk/restaurant_and_private_room.htm (disgusting website but really nice atmosphere and decor and food is great), Entropy on Hinckley Road is also good and the food is cheaper - www.entropylife.com

In town Taps do great food (about £5-8 lunch menu) and have a really good selection of drinks with some nice beers on tap at your table - on Guildhall Lane www.tapsleicester.com

For a curry Mem Saab near the highcross are good.

I stayed a week at the Travel Lodge in the centre of town just of High street near the casino, it was cheap and friendly staff. Definetly nothing fancy but clean and cheap. for the week it averaged out to 25 pound a night.

I stayed there once, and I echo this.

When i stayed there i had just finished sleeping in dodgy hostels in London and camping at the worst camp site immaginable in Munich and a night sleeping in a chair at a Munich hospital so anything was probably going to be good.
