Sk4 Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 It says on sky sports news Freddie Ljungberg signs for Celtic so we can rule him out coming to foxes , thank goodness
MikeyT Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Celtic have confirmed the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg on a free transfer. Ljungberg has been training with the SPL club over the past few days and passed a medical earlier on Thursday. The Bhoys have now finalised a deal for the Swede, who could be in contention to make his debut in Sunday's Old Firm derby against Rangers. The 33-year-old had spent the past two years playing in Major League Soccer, firstly with Seattle Sounders and then Chicago Fire. With his contract expiring with Chicago, he has opted to return to European football and has clinched a deal with Neil Lennon's Celtic. He watched Wednesday's 1-0 win over Motherwell at Parkhead and will be presented as a Celtic player at a press conference on Friday morning. Ljungberg had been linked with a return to the English Premier League where he had previously enjoyed a successful decade in his career. The midfielder spent nine years winning trophies with Arsenal before taking in a disappointing campaign at West Ham United prior to his move to America.
Thracian Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Northing specifically to do with Freddie - he'd have sold a few shirts and shorts - but what concerns me is that we've been linked with every one-time star not registered for meals-on-wheels - yet with no apparent thought to how they'll fit into the concept of team-building. Ah well if one doesn't work, try and buy another. If we're not careful though, I can just see us losing some credibility and becoming something of a national joke, with cartoons saying we're enquiring about the availability of Nelson's Column - cos we're that desperate for a big name.

Firstly, no we haven't. We've been linked far more to current Premiership players who either didn't make their 25 or are eligible but aren't playing. Secondly, even those we HAVE been linked to the manager has made no confirmation of being interested in with the exception of Beckham who we've debated until the cows come home.

Legend_in_blue Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Well at least that's one less transfer rumour for everyone to talk about.
