flyboy254 Posted 23 January 2011 Share Posted 23 January 2011 Hi All, I have just bought my first season ticket (half) and am new to all this but really enjoyed my first few games. I went to the Man City game and this was my first away match, It was fantastic and I think I'm hooked . I;m gonna go to the Sheffield game but looking at all the train problems and the fact I live in Loughborough I'm Gonna drive there with my daughter.. Any advise on Parking would be good, Can anyone explain how the Priority system works for away games.. Thanks Nick.
ajthefox Posted 24 January 2011 Share Posted 24 January 2011 i'm not too sure on price but there's an ncp on charter row in the city centre which would be like a 10 minute walk to brammal lane. there's also an ncp on arundel gate which is a little further walk, although I think it's pretty expensive. Depends how long you're staying for really. not quite so sound an option but you might be able to find a spot in the back street around the ground or about 5 minutes further out towards ecclesall way where there might be a few street spaces which will no doubt be cheaper. Marmite Posted 24 January 2011 Share Posted 24 January 2011 We drove a few seasons ago when we played them on the opening day of the season, it is pretty easy to park on the streets around the ground and safe as well
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 24 January 2011 Share Posted 24 January 2011 Ecclesall road (and surrounding streets) is nearly entirely residents permit. Could do worse than just getting the park and ride from Meadowhall. Ground is about 10-15 minutes away from the tram stop and the train station. CosbehFox Posted 24 January 2011 Share Posted 24 January 2011 Car parking to the train station, ten minute walk from there.
Tommeh Posted 24 January 2011 Share Posted 24 January 2011 Parking in Sheffield is plentiful yet also a right slag, the fact it's a night game should make it ok however..... If you get there early enough drive past the ground, past the hotels at the top then hook a right and there is plenty of street parking. I'd imagine it gets pretty full matchday though plus the road itself is closed a good 10 mins after ft so maybe not the best bet. Most as said is restricted in Sheffield i.e. 2 hours max or residents but most of these go away past 6pm so just fish around, failing that just bang it in one of the many glorious looking multi stories or the other I'd advise is get off the M1 follow the A61 signed to Chesterfield....drive past the train station, past 2 sets of light and as you see a Mcdonalds ahead of you, hook a left and park in the big casino car park, think it's like a nugget an hour max and probably less after 5pm. Toby or not Toby Posted 25 January 2011 Share Posted 25 January 2011 Ecclesall road (and surrounding streets) is nearly entirely residents permit. Could do worse than just getting the park and ride from Meadowhall. Ground is about 10-15 minutes away from the tram stop and the train station. The roads off Ecclesall road are free after 6.30pm and 20p an hour before this, maximum stay 4 hours Theres always room down Rosedale Road at the bottom! Thanks in advance Thats the one, no idea why a search of the casino throws up nothing, but yeah thats the area. Take no notice of the Busniesses which open their gates slnog the road as it's a fiver I think. Arrive at 6ish and most places will be free of restrictions. Like I say though Casino is the best bet for cheap and secure with a 10 min walk and not too bad getting out I shouldn't imagine, also if you're heading back to Leicester after, follow the A61 all the way (about 12 miles) to Chesterfield and get on the M1 from there, much, much quicker. Dickie Greenleaf Posted 28 January 2011 Share Posted 28 January 2011 whats it like trying to get a bus back to park and ride? To meadowhall park and ride? Don't know mate . People always just tram it. Tram stop is at the train station which is 10 minute walk from the ground. Dead easy route and you should have no problems getting on one. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=S2+4SU&daddr=S1+2BP&hl=en&geocode=FZFfLgMdWJTp_ykL2om7iIJ5SDGzmqT0n_kMHQ%3BFeqELgMd27Hp_ynx18vRnIJ5SDFC8rJcuNoQPA&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=18.598503,39.506836&ie=UTF8&z=15 Google says 15, but they always exaggerate
