Flemmish Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Ive been there a couple of times. It is a nice place with mostly flat land and loads of canals. I assume theres loads of bars and clubs there, but I wouldn't know as I was about 12/13 when I went. The dutch people are nice and friendly and can speak very good english, so you we be OK if you can't speak dutch.

Flemmish Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Also if you have the chance visit the Ajax Stadium, I only saw the outside but it looked like a fantastic stadium.
Scarby Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Great Place....if you get a chance take a stroll behind the railway station, where your find window shopping strangly attractive

Alexikokopops Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 My mate has apicture of when he went standing in front of a double glass doors, one with a "No Smoking" sign on on and the other with a "No Joints" sign on, HA!! He didn't say "No smoking" or "No joints" but it was obvious what each one was, ha.

Deathside Posted 4 June 2005 Posted 4 June 2005 I used to like Amsterdam a long time ago and went there quite often, but I think most of the places I frequented will be long gone Favourite memories: Going to see A Clockwork Orange at the cinema (with Dave Grohl ) At the time the film was still banned in the UK Playing gigs at The Melkweg (Milky Way) Least favourite memory: Being involved in a riot - I was staying at The Vrankrijk Squat - It started off with Ajax fans attacking the Vrankrijk - A petrol bomb came through one of our windows but fortunetly didn't ignite, but did soak an 8(ish) year old girl in petrol - The defense from the squat was ball bearings fired from catapults - The police turned a blind eye to the whole situation, in fact they prevented the Ajax hools from leaving the area - It was a VERY VERY SCARY night _____________________________________________________________________ Yesterday I spent 5 hours at Amsterdam (Schipol) airport - All flights were delayed due to a major thunderstorm (The airport was closed down for over an hour) - Very boring - Not recommended Also yesterday the train to the airport passed (slowly) by the Ajax stadium - OK it looks impressive but actually looks very similar to PSV's stadium and for reasons mentioned above I hate Ajax Anyways - Enjoy your trip Durnerz
