The carling tournament with Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic is rubbish as the half empty stadiums will confirm and what possible interest would a tournament of three second rate football nations and one seriously underwhelming nation (i.e. England) draw to any fans other than the previous generation who grew up with the home nations? Id rather watch a prestige friendly against Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Holland, Germany etc etc etc and it be used 'properly' than watch some shit 'derby rivalry' game against Scotland.

If King doesn't play and Wales win, I'll be delighted and happy he's had a rest. If King doesn't play and England win, it'll be "meh, that's what everyone expected to happen".
Heskey2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 To be completley honest i can't stand our national side, Rooney (our best player) can't play if he's in a grump, which is most of the time. lampard and terry, gerrard, rio, cole, etc all play miles better for thier clubs, (except Beckham but he's past his best ) the only time i've actually enjoyed watching england was in France 98, since then (apart from heskey cameos) it's been abysmal. None of the players show any pride when putting on the 3 lions so why should i when watching it. I went to south africa last summer (and still paying for it) and i was ashamed to watch our so called team. disgraceful. C'mon Kingy show us how to play the beautiful game, please.

Most people on here would have you believe its because we've not got the same manager and starting 11 as last year playing!

The England national team is a complete joke, it's just one thing after another. The captain thing being the latest example, would much rather we sacked off Capello and started developing the younger players but instead we persist with players who clearly don't really care about the international team and can't play together at all. The media circus that surrounds it all is probably the worst bit as well - don't really feel any sense of "English pride" as it is really, i mean, i'd like us to win, but i'd like it more if King does well.
