Rangers in financial bother

impossible to call rangers or celtic a bigger team than the other.

Celtic have the bigger fan-base, better financial state and the european success but the european success is in the past and counts for jack all while rangers dominate the domestic game as they have done.

Without being argumentative can I ask why? Just genuinely intrigued.

Just never liked them, especially as a youth when it seemed like they were fishing for O'Neill.

To add, I'd Celtic and Rangers are pretty much on a par in terms of 'size.'

Fair play, I think I and every City fan felt bitter towards them at that point really.

The rest of the SPL would be so much ****ing happier without the old firm.

why? Without the old firm they wouldn't exist, our shit excuse for a league system is kept afloat by celtic and rangers.

Of course they'd exist. They'd always exist.

You don't need a vast wealth to run a league system, else they'd only exist in major nations.

I don't get how people can say Celtic are a bigger club then Rangers.

Because Celtic have more fans, play in a bigger stadium, and aren't about to go bankrupt.

true however the league system in smaller nations usually reflects the size of that nation - meanwhile in scotland the stadium size and so maintainance costs, wages and other expediture almost certainly doesn't reflect the size of scotland, the SPL is almost reliant on the tv money brought in by the old-firm.

I always thought Rangers had the bigger fan-base within Scotland, with Celtic having more fans internationally. Either way, we're splitting hairs.

Obviously a club like Rangers will never go bust (the council would step in anyway if no one else took over, it affects too many people), but says it all about Scottish football. I mean take away the Old Firm and essentially you've got a collection of clubs that would struggle in our second division, both in footballing and financial terms.

I hope they get out of it as I don't like to Clubs die, I disagree with what your all saying, stating that Scottish football wouldn't survive without Rangers and Celtic, it would survive, it just wouldn't be as high profile, the SPL would be on the same level as the Welsh and Two Irish Leagues, I do feel there are Clubs with big potential in that league, such as Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen.
