potter3 Posted 21 April 2011 Posted 21 April 2011 Because................................. Really? The reason you insert food into your mouth is to masticate and then swallow it, how is that in any way similar to coughing up a bit of phlegm? Stevie B has a point - spitting is a disgusting habit - the Chinese do it alot! Why should we have to be subject to people spitting - my motto is always swallow it! what is this I don't even
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 HHHHHHHHOCK PUDDDDDD DING. No way I'm swallowing flem. Not that I hardly get any, but if it appears it's going over somebody's hedge or down a drain I'm afraid. If you spat over my hedge, I'd rip your bloody balls off!
STEVIE B Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 Really? The reason you insert food into your mouth is to masticate and then swallow it, how is that in any way similar to coughing up a bit of phlegm? what is this I don't even I was actually responding to Haydos, who mentioned that when athletes exercise they get a build up of SALIVA and spit it out. My response was merely saying, why shouldn't athletes swallow saliva as they would with food ? Phlegm was not mentioned.

Same principle, they didn't want that build up of saliva, so that analogy makes no sense.
STEVIE B Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 Same principle, they didn't want that build up of saliva, so that analogy makes no sense. So saliva & phlegm are the same !? What makes it so hard to swallow saliva ? Enlighten me please.
potter3 Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I said it was a shit analogy, which it is. They're the same in that they're unwanted, whereas food most definitely is.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 One of the worst sounds heard on the street is a HEEEEEYACCCCH... FLUPPPPP as some brain donor spits out a greenback. Absolute disgusting tossers. Sod banning spitting, ban chavs. Then you're cutting out not only the problem of spitting, but so many others as well. It's not genocide, it's twatocide. And it's ethical.
MPH Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 did you know that the common cold bug was first discovered in a small Hawaiian town? the town was called wannahokalugi
STEVIE B Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I said it was a shit analogy, which it is. They're the same in that they're unwanted, whereas food most definitely is. phlegm is, I agree. but why spit out saliva ? I think you're missing the point. Either way spitting is disgusting, but no,couldn't be banned in public.
potter3 Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 No, my only issue was with the food thing, I don't condone spitting either, although when exercising sometimes your mouth is too dry to swallow.

OK,fair point. Back to my original post. Why does it seem to be only adult footballers that spit all over the pitch ? I don't see cricketers do it the middle of summer, basketball players, or any kids playing sport etc, the list is endless.
Kitchandro Posted 25 April 2011 Posted 25 April 2011 OK,fair point. Back to my original post. Why does it seem to be only adult footballers that spit all over the pitch ? I don't see cricketers do it the middle of summer, basketball players, or any kids playing sport etc, the list is endless. Cricketers don't really run around much and Basketballers don't play on grass, they play indoors. And kids usually swallow phlegm, the dirty buggers. When I play football catarrh builds up very quickly and it's either swallow it or spit it. So I spit it into the grass, no harm done. Unless it's very windy and it's a poor spit, then it sometimes flies onto someone else
