Charl91 Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 I'm always planking. I'l plank in the morning sometimes, I'l plank before I go to bed, and sometimes if I'm in the mood, I'l plank during the day. Sometimes even my girlfriend will plank me.
OzFox Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 A "PLANKER" died in Brisbane this morning in what police believe is Australia's first planking tragedy. The man, Acton Beale, 20, was with a friend on the seventh floor of a Kangaroo Point high-rise when he fell about 4.30am. He was trying to balance on the balcony rail when he fell. What a plank
lcfcadam Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 What a plank I have no sympathy whatsoever I'm afraid. Okay I suppose some would argue that lots of people do utterly idiotic things and get away with it, but surely they all know the risk they're taking beforehand?

What a waste of time and life. Its a pretty innocent hobby - its not like they are going out getting involved in fighting, wrecking things, vandalising, graffiti'ing taking drugs, getting drunk ( although the last two could be argued i suppose. It's an innocent hobby when you're lying on some table looking like a twat. Somewhat different when you start clambering on balconies 7 stories up!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 May 2011 Posted 18 May 2011 I just can't figure out the mentality of some people. The guy in Brisban, got what he deserved!
MikeyT Posted 18 May 2011 Posted 18 May 2011 I just can't figure out the mentality of some people. The guy in Brisban, got what he deserved! I agree with the mentality thing, but, he deserved to die? I think people like Osama Bin Laden deserve it more.

ozleicester Posted 18 May 2011 Posted 18 May 2011 Man was "planking" during fall from car Now in induced coma in intensive care Father says accident is lesson to others A 20-year-old man may never recover from horrific head injuries after he fell from the back of a car while planking with friends. The 20-year-old from Inverell, NSW, may never recover from horrific head injuries after he fell from the back of a car, allegedly while "planking". The young plasterer was skylarking with friends when he fell heavily onto the road from a fast-moving car. Witnesses told police Simon was attempting to "plank" on the boot of the Holden Commodore sedan before he fell. With Simon in an induced coma, his distraught father, Terry, said it was a strong warning to others taking part in the planking craze. "You do these things to be noticed, to get attention ... well, look at the attention Simon's getting now from the doctors and nurses and he doesn't even know about it," Mr Hallam said. Return to start of sidebar. The fad attracted attention earlier this week with the death of Brisbane man Acton Beale, 20, who plunged from his seventh-floor balcony while planking. Mr Hallam said he believed social networking sites, with their rapid spread of information and photographs, were partly to blame for the rise in competitive behaviour among young people. "The internet and Facebook, they're just dreadful things ... they encourage this sort of behaviour among the young ones," Mr Hallam said. "And young ones don't think about consequences of their actions, they think it's fun, so they do it with little thought for what could happen - like this." Police said Simon was on the boot of the Commodore in Henderson Lane, just before 9pm on Monday, when the accident happened. "We have spoken today with witnesses who have reported the young man was in fact 'planking', or similar to it," a police spokesman claimed. A 19-year-old Inverell man has been charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and is due to face court next month. Doctors at Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital, where Simon is in a critical condition, told the family they did not know if he would ever recover. "They have told us it's just day by day - that's all we know," Mr Hallam said. The NSW Ambulance Service yesterday had a warning for anyone considering planking. "Don't take unnecessary risks - and use common sense, as serious injury may result in a planking stunt that goes wrong," the service said. "These stunts can also lead to hospitalisation, great embarrassment or even death." Im bored with planking now.............. next fad please!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 May 2011 Author Posted 18 May 2011 It's just getting stupid, it's all you see and here about really.
lcfcadam Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Have to agree to disagree then. Fair enough, but I would be interested to know why? I just couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for someone who's done something really stupid, even if they've most negative consequences...

We have all done ludicrous things at times in our life and luckily for most of us we have all walked away usually unharmed. I think he was an absolute tool for doing it where he did, but to say "he got what he deserved" is just silly. Just my opinion. Not having a pop at anyone. All entitled to opinions of course.

Remember, I never said he "deserved to die" or "got what he deserved". All I was saying that I don't feel any sympathy for him... Of course it's hard not to feel sympathy for his relations, who have lost a family member in a completely and utterly unnecessary and ridiculous fashion.
