Guest Col city fan Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 with noble and keeping parker. that's a great midfield. i bet even carlton could bang a 10+ in at this level The Nolan signing was an inspired one by big Sam... Just the sort of player every championship side needs... Been saying for weeks that west ham will be difficult to beat at home... Not many teams are gonna come away with much from the east end... Saying that, not many teams are gonna come away from the king power stadium with much either... Should be a close season
thybluefox Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 IMO West Ham could find it tough, Big Sam won't have a side playing pretty football as Newcastle did when they got out the division at the first time of trying, teams will set up to shut them out and they could find it a struggle. No doubt they'll be up there but it won't be as cut and dried as everyone thinks. Obviously we'll suffer from a similar tactic, although less so as we're not Premiership big boys, and I feel with the side Sven's building we'll be able to play and break sides down better than we did last season.
BrummieFOX Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Nolan, Parker and to a lesser extent Faye aside I don't see a lot to be scared of. Respect them yes, but fear them no. They're the biggest threat in the league but Bellamy is a better player than any of them and hardly destroyed the league as most expected him to. Though I'd argue Nolan pretty much did 2 seasons ago. I'd take Nolan over Bellamy anyday. Still, I agree with everything else, we shouldn't be fearing anyone. Our squad is good enough on paper to beat anyone in this league.
DMU Fox Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Their squad is stronger than ours? Bore off! Don't be such a miserable scrotum, the season hasn't started yet, be ****ing positive.

Filberts lovechild Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Shouldn't worry about West Ham it's what we do. We have been the big spenders this summer but I am a bit of a doubter as to how much more quality we have than the end of last season. Here's my fag packet assessment Keeper - better RB - Not as good CB - Better CB - As good (Vitor vs St Ledger) LB - As good (vs Van Aanholt) Midfield - Unsure that we've impoved much, not convinced on Dann ST - Not as good (Kamara & Yak vs Nugent, we need to improve, Maynard yes please) We need to be realistic with our current squad we're not top 2, however the way things are going I think Sven will spend some more cash and get some high quality loans in to boot hence I'm still optimistic. Kick off tomorrow though & we'll do no better than last season.

Ye i agree, we have a squad good enough to rival both the relegated and present teams in the league. Although i'd have loved Nolan as most would, he was the best player the season they went up. Can't believe people are worrying too much about Can't Control (carlton cole) though. Still don't know how he got in to the England Squad.
DMU Fox Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Don't be such an jumped up cock. How is that jumped up? We're still 2 weeks off the 1st game & people are fretting about our squad & comparing them to other teams & beating themselves up about it! I'm not a sven fan boy but already people are being pessimistic, therefore don't be miserable, chill out & just wait for this season. One that could be one that we enjoy like the league 1 season.
Fox92 Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Just reported that West ham are signing Matty Taylor from Bolton, add him to Nolan and Parker (at the moment ) and they have strong midfield Carlton Cole will be staying now the stoke deal has fell flat - if he gets his head right he is a top player they have a pretty strong side for next year, our biggest rivals for automatic promotion oh and forest have announced Jimmy floyd Hasselbank as coach so they will also be in there that last bits a joke West Ham will be up there next season anyway, I don't think they've lost many key players but they have added one in Nolan. Taylor would be a great signing for them, he can do a job within the Premier League. And we could have done with a striker coach, somebody like Jimmy Hasselbaink.
foxT Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Without doubt will be our biggest rivals for automatic promotion. However I think we will pick up more points away from home as they will set up for 0-0 or 1-0 as I hope we aim to get all 3 points. Found this on one of their fan forum sites which shows they have a fairly strong squad (even if they don't realise it) for the championship at least. http://whu606.com/discussion/1840/current-squad I imagine they will start with something like: ------------Green------------ (?)-Tomkins-Faye-Taylor -------------Noble------------- ----Collison-----Nolan----- Sears-------------------LBM -------------Cole------------- Which looks a very decent starting 11 excluding Parker who was player for the year or something not to forget. Anyway looks like were not the only one's getting paranoid: http://whu606.com/discussion/comment/81585#Comment_81585
