Our main priority all last season was a striker, our main priority at the end of the season was to sign a striker in the summer, why the fuck are we in the middle of August and still not signed one. I'm happy with all our signings this summer but a decent striker should have been one of our first signings of the summer.

kingfox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Too right could easily tell today. We need two new strikers not just one. Go in for Ebanks-Blake or somebody, or target Hooper or Stokes from Celtic.

You will do if we spend loads of money, the striker doesn't score, the club doesn't get promoted, the owners leave and the club goes into administration. Do you care now??? It was our defense that needed changing and that was always our main priority. Last season we managed to bring in a striker on loan and score a few goals so I'm confident we will do the same or better this season once its all sorted.

For some unknown reason they seem reluctant to come to us and after todays result will probably join the knee jerk reaction to us losing and be less likely to want to come. I still don't understand why we were willing to spend £7 million on Long but wouldn't offer 5 million to Maynard. It;s not as if we are spoilt for choice at the minute.

Defence was poor, needed sorting, and quite happy, although today is a different story. Yes last season was managed to bring in a striker on loan and scored a few goals, only took half a season but we got him and he nearly helped us to the playoffs, and now.....? Gotta say depsite me pleading that we are desperate I do worry about £5m+ on Maynard, £5m+ on any player is a gamble, Maynard, I just don't feel to confident about, that said I don't know much about the lad and havn't seen him play too much so i'm just going off other people's deperation to sign him and hope he is worth it should we sign him although I can't see us signing him tbh.
Mr.Lowe Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Agreed we do need a striker, not anyone though!! Today in my opinion we could have had rooney and he wouldn't of scored. Only two decent chances fell to nugent who was unlucky, put one wide and hit the post.

You said it yourself, we are TWO games into the season, no need to panic and chuck £7Million at Maynard. 44 games left, we will come back stronger, just because you spend millions on a player doesnt guarentee he's going to be a success.
