Could Steve Howard Turn Out to Be Svens Plan B

He might not score but he drags defenders out of position, is strong on the ball (holding it up well), has very good ball control and is overall a pain in the arse to try and mark. Meaning that defensive emphasis goes onto him (as he is seen as the big man who nods things on, therefore a threat) leaving players such as Nugent, Dyer, Beckford, King et all to slip in behind while the defense is distracted by Big Steve.

Really annoys me how a striker is judged on his ability to score, scoring is not all that a striker is there to do, Steve's job isn't to score its to do the above.

Cue Emile Heskey. Totally underrated just because he doesn't bang in loads of goals but put him in your team and watch how everyone else is given more time and space to play. Michael Owen would vouch for this perhaps vassell, nugent and beckford woul be the same with big Steve.

You think our team would be improved by playing Hobbs, Fryatt, Waghorn, Howard & Dyer rather than Mills, Nugent, Beckford, Vassel & Danns?

You need to stop taking the happy pills, go to specsavers and probably stop wasting your money on watching football.

I really can't believe how some on here have an infatuation with a player due to him having played well in the distant past and are then unable to see that the player is no longer good enough.

You have to be wumming.

Well stats don't lie pal, Mills has had a shakey season so far and hoofs the ball the same way that Hobbs 'apparently' did. Fryatt and waggie have scored as many as beckford. The only players that i think are of a major turn of class & improvement on pearson's team are fernandes and Nugent to be honest. Beckford hasn't done anything special so far and seems to me like he cba and Danns has had a few shockers so far this season.

So as for your question, No i don't think we as considerably improved on that team to be honest. We have already lost a third of the amount of games as we lost that season, and conceded way more goals than we had at this point of the season, it is also no coincedance that a lot of those players are playing for a Hull side who have won more than we have this season.

I like our team this year do not get me wrong, but it annoys me how many of our jumped up fans are looking down on players because their names are not as well known as our current crop, despite the form of the players discussed being better than some of those players who are 'well-known'.

Howard is a major asset to our team, and until we buy a player who can play that centre forward role as well as, or better than howard (CF's are rare nowadays) then he will be an assett for those games where we need to just hold the ball up at the top when legs are tiring. end of.

I dont think any of the bit part players will be happy playing the roll. If Howards got any sence he will go in jan because he still has 2or3 seasons left in him playing in league one imo.
