Stoke of the Championship

If we are going to reach the Play offs this season, or even automatic promotion, then it will definately be on the back of our home games results.

So far this season at home (excluding Bristol City and Reading) we have been good, great at times. Southampton, Brighton, Derby spring to mind as exciting attacking performances and good results against in-form teams. You can see commitment and passion from the players, a desire to score and win games.

Away from Home, it's the opposite. Our results haven't been bad (draws at Cardiff and Boro are decent) but our performances on the whole have been dreadful. Solid defensively yes, but toothless offensively. An exception was at Forest where we were unfortunate not to win. I was at our only away win this season at Coventry. We were OK, nothing special, and arguably up against a side amongst the favourites for relegation. Slow, timid and disinterested sum up the usual dross on the road.

I know that the old saying is along the lines of 'Win at home, draw away', but it is so frustrating being bored to tears time and time again away from home. Cardiff and Birmingham especially recently have been there for the taking. If we play like we did at Derby, then we have 6 points, not 1, from those games. WHY can't we replicate our home performances at opposition grounds? I really feel for the fans who are making these away trips and forking out a lot of money to watch us on our travels.

I thought previously that maybe we set out to draw 0-0 away. But today after going 1-0 down, we STILL showed very little improvement until around 10 minutes to go. It is unbelievable that we were playing the same 11 that thrashed Derby emphatically.

I don't want Sven out, anyone who does is an idiot, but what we do need is a whole new approach, tactically and mentally for away games. From now on, PLEASE go for the throat and try to win these games!!

I'm confident of 6 points from the 2 upcoming home games. We will be in the Play off places this time next week :scarf:

I can see us winning the majority of our home games, however our negative approach away from home will cost us big time i.e just hoping for draws instead of going for the juggernaught and aiming for wins that is not to say that a draw away from home is bad, but if we really want to get automatic promotion we need to win away from home, and this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

They are formiddable at home, useless away. Don't you watch MOTD? :P

Yeah but I always turn away, or turn it off, when Stoke come on because I can't stand watching their long football, or looking at Pulis.
