Rincewind Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Are they transferrable? If you have to get rid of a car will the new owner have to change their name?
purpleronnie Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 So they're not "attention seeking wallies" then are they? yep
Len Finsbury Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Cheers for that! Sounds like my dad was talking shite then You're assuming he only has one car, of course. Perhaps he has another with the registration number your dad saw.
Zingari Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Personalized number plate = Attention seeking wally. We’re all attention seekers in one way or another. Whether it’s the car we drive, the clothes with designer brand names we wear , the cologne we splash over us , or even the trophy blonde we like to be seen with on our arm . Private plates are merely another manifestation of human vanity to which we all subscribe to some degree . Are they transferrable? If you have to get rid of a car will the new owner have to change their name? Yes, it costs about £80 to retain and transfer a cert of registration. You cannot transfer certs onto cars to make them appear newer though , eg a W reg cert cannot go onto an S reg car .
Teece Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 See lots round where I live, and I try to figure out who it could be (if anyone..) as there's loads of footballers and whatnot dotted about round here but as this is RangeRoverVille , most of them they are higher up than my little car and all seem to have tinted windows so its hard to tell who's behind the wheel. Only one i've seen that absolutely definitely was, was Stephen Irelands missus (not much of a celeb I know) in her Bentley with her JE55 LAW reg but that one was so showy it was impossible not to notice the damn thing... <_<
lavrentis Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Seen loads where I live now, probably just drug dealers
Saxondale Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I wouldn't want to have my name on my number plate even if it was free, let alone paying a load of money for the privilege. Anonymity is better. Makes me laugh when you see a shit car with a private plate on (as you do so often). If you saved the money you spent on the registration, maybe you wouldn't have to drive around in a wretched rotbox! Each to their own I suppose.
Stay Positive Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I once let Nigel Pearson into the traffic on Soar Valley Way, and he smiled and acknowledged me like a true gent. Can't remember the exact plate but it was definitely NGP something.
Thracian Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Heavyweight boxer Joe Bugner used to have 1.ON.U on his gold Rolls Royce and the numberplate F4CUP is in our family.
