digi Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I don't want to start particularly sounding off at anyone but for a long time i've often been baffled by the level of negativity and fickleness amongst our fans (not all, but sadly a LOT) Over the last few years I've really started to enjoy being a Leicester supporter again - we have a good set-up, the strongest playing squad I've seen in absolutely years and some real financial backing to eventually (and it'll happen sooner rather than later) get us promoted back to the top flight. For all the moaning that goes on, and I'm not saying I don't have the odd moan myself (show me a single fan of any team that doesn't), it might be worth a few people taking a step back and reflecting on the positives once in a while, after all we are not Barcelona, no matter how much certain people would like us to be - you have to earn things in life and I think we're on a better path to earning promotion and playing premiership football than we have been in many years. I truly believe that the right man will get this club promotion this season, our start has not been good enough granted but it can only get better and for all the people that constantly moan about our new crop - well there is only a few things to say to that - Rab Douglas? Mark De Vries? Elvis Hammond? Sheehan? Look how far we've come - we almost made it under Pearson, but were we ready as a club to go up? I don't think we were under MMs owndership, we're in much better shape now and if/when the new man gets us firing it will come together. Always KEEP THE FAITH - your lives wouldn't be so exciting without this club we all love!

Corky Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I don't want to start particularly sounding off at anyone but for a long time i've often been baffled by the level of negativity and fickleness amongst our fans (not all, but sadly a LOT) I'm not. We came into this season with high hopes and although I didn't expect us to start in a flying fashion, I did expect better performances and some sort of structure to our play. We've plenty of time to get it right, but the longer we remain inconsistent the harder it will be to catch up. I do still believe this season can be a success but with every passing match it looks less likely. We'll all be feeling better I'm sure when the new manager is appinted and the uncertainty has gone regarding who will take charge. A win tonight would help.
digi Posted 1 November 2011 Author Posted 1 November 2011 It's not just us. It's part and parcel of being a football fan. Gives us something to talk about, what's the problem? Leicester fans are particularly bad mate, i've witnessed it for years. it's embarrassing listening to some of the shit that is spouted - I mean a forum is going to be like this from time to time but listening to people on the moan in and at matches, in the pub, outside the ground - anyone would think we were Wimbledon or something, you'd have something to moan about then ey! Yes it's all part and parcel - to a point - but I just feel it's OVER NEGATIVE, I just want to tell some people to cheer the **** up, smile, it honestly could be so much worse! and it's more the fickle nature of a lot of fans more than the negativity itself i think.........

I agree, as i said it's not all fans just a lot more than i'd have thought! As I said i'm just happy we've progressed from the teams we were putting out 4-5years ago!!!!!!! onwards and upwards!

Me too . I bet there are ManUre fans who want Fergie sacked because they are only second. Look at all the wailing and moaning at Liverpool before the new owner came in, they'd won the European Cup only a couple of years earlier. We only moan because we care so much. It's better than being a rugby fan.
Corky Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Absolutely, we've got more talent now than in those squads by a long way. Just makes it more frustrating when we don't produce on a regular basis.

Houdini Logic Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Agree with the OP and although a number of things wind me up about the club, I feel I need to stand back and appreciate what we have, what we're up to and the general entertainment associated with our club and football in general. To be honest I think I'm as guilty as everyone else of buying into the new owner's dreams and nothing short of the Premier League this season will do. Sometimes we all need a reality check and to stand back and appreciate the fact we're no longer on the edge of administration and even the not so distant days of Alan Maybury's defensive genius and the attacking prowess of Carl Cort have long gone and will not be returning for the foreseeable future. It'll all come good

Always KEEP THE FAITH - your lives wouldn't be so exciting without this club we all love! How far have we come in footballing terms over the last 10 years? http://fussball.wettpoint.com/en/archives/table/championship_2002_england.html And I think we were 15th and 16th in the two years which followed compared with 14th today. And, for the last time, we didn't make it under Pearson and weren't even that close. Partly because, in his final season, we didn't score anywhere near enough goals and drew too many matches to gain a top two spot. Then we didn't get through to the play-off final having finished the season fifth. We've not got anywhere for one simple reason. We've never won enough matches. And that's what needs to change. At home and away we need to focus on winning. Not getting ahead and holding on. Or playing for draws. Look at Southampton. Nine wins and 31 goals in 14 matches already and they came up from Division One! Now that's what I call a club and a manager making progress.

I never said we DID, i said we ALMOST did (play offs was a decent finish in my opinion) and are you Sherlock Holmes in disguise? I'm very glad you let me know that to get somewhere in football you have to WIN games, glad i understand that a little better now! I also said, you have to earn things, we haven't hence our current position but what I also said was it isn't as bad as many are making out. chill the **** out
Jacnah Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Exhibit A :crylaugh: could not have asked for a more timely post!! Re the OP: You are absolutely spot on mate
Guest MattP Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Always KEEP THE FAITH - your lives wouldn't be so exciting without this club we all love! Speak for yourself. I can't even bare to think of the things I could of done, the people I could of met and the places I could have travelled without every single weekend and thousands of pounds each year being spent on this. And, for the last time, we didn't make it under Pearson and weren't even that close. I like your posts Thrac, speak a lot of sense sometimes but I can't understand the anti-Pearson stuff, we were frustrating going forward yes, but had we gone gung ho attacking with that squad of players we had we would of finished in the bottom half. Not a couple of kicks away from a play off final.
Thracian Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Exhibit A Yes, I'm sorry about that. But until we stop being in denial and start approaching the job of getting promotion realistically, we'll get nowhere. Kidding ourselves with bland inaccuracies about how much progress we've made - however well meaning - will get us nowhere. So far we've not even made the progress needed to take decent free-kicks.
davieG Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Well I'm a half empty fan but then I've experienced success and stability over the years but post Taylor the football has been shocking and it's been one step forward and seemingly two steps backwards and that's still happening. Given that in today's financial football set up I'm not even that fussed about getting into the PL yet I still feel frustrated and unfulfilled, I've got past moaning about it since the nadir of Mandaric & Holloway now I just sigh and think this manager merry go round is par for the course for Leicester City fans and quietly accept it and don't think our prospects are that exciting. I've certainly given up any thoughts of traipsing up to Burnley on a Tuesday night after all the abysmal showings I've witnessed up there (cue a 3-0 win)
Thracian Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Speak for yourself. Not a couple of kicks away from a play off final. I'm not anti-Pearson. I'd even said he's one of the few managerial candidates I'd welcome back but only if he recognises his shortcomings and tries to learn from them. He's too cautious. And what has gung-ho got to do with anything? I've said countless times that football teams should move up and down as a unit. How is that "gung-ho"? Pearson preferred to sacrifice a potential double-figure goalscorer in Gradel because he preferred to over-protect our defence. So we didn't score enough goals. To suggest we'd have conceded more by using Gradel, Dyer - or someone like them - is just supposition. What about the opposition having to devote more resources to coping with them? Look at the great attacking sides. Are they vulnerable at the back or do the opposition fear them so much that they abandon any idea of actually attacking them and go for a policy of damage limitation. You takes your choice of course but we've taken the cautious choice for years and it hasn't worked. I remember Keegan taking Newcastle out of Division One. I think he hit us for eight or something horrible. And we were psychologically scared stiff before we ever left Leicester, just like most everyone else. I don't remember the Magpies defence being too hot - just that we never had the chance to find out! Look at Hull even now. They're doing great - challenging for a top two place if they win their game in hand. But they're way behind in terms of goals. Thirteen for, 11 against suggests that Pearson is grinding out results in exactly the same way as he did before - the way that didn't quite work. I've no doubts it will be just the same again and that he'd welcome a move back to Leicester because he suspects as much too. Every manager believes he'll have a better chance with more money but great managers can make something out of nothing. Pearson goes close but, in the end, his caution will be his achilles heel. No reason he shouldn't change but look at his approach at Hull and his television interviews. He's not changed with either. Yet the PR side of being a manager is important. So, while I'd welcome him back, I don't believe he's what we need. .
