MikeyT Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Robbie-Savage-hot-TV/story-13732372-detail/story.htmlHis appearances on Strictly Come Dancing have been characterised by pelvic thrusts and open shirts – and some BBC viewers are complaining that Robbie Savage has gone too far. The former Leicester City star's performance, on Saturday, of Michael Jackson's classic Bad has led to 325 complaints from people, who said his raunchy thrusts were unsuitable for a family show. Viewers also criticised his moves on the show's blog, where the routine was described as "tasteless" and "disgusting". However, the retired midfielder, who is no stranger to criticism of his behaviour on the football pitch, is taking it all in his stride. The 36-year-old wrote on Twitter: "Just seems some people have it in for me, nothing new there then! "It was just a Michael Jackson move... still going to enjoy myself (and) have fun because I'm having (the) time of my life. "Seriously, what is the world coming to when on an entertainment show people complain about a famous Michael Jackson move which my five-year-old loves doing." The online complaints from viewers included: "This change from family viewing to sexually overt television will cause a lot of people with children not to watch in future. It is in no way 'entertainment' when watching with the family becomes embarrassing." Another wrote: "Thought you were a breath of fun fresh air Robbie and loved your energy. Then you went and spoilt it all on Saturday and gave us a horrible, vulgar performance with virtually no dancing in it." Another said: "Robbie was too crude on Saturday. My eight-year-old son was really embarrassed and my 11-year-old daughter said 'that's disgusting'. "Really inappropriate stuff for a Saturday night family show." The BBC has defended Savage. A spokesman said: "Robbie danced a paso doble to Michael Jackson's Bad. The choreography emulated some of Michael's famous dance moves. No offence was intended." He said the complaints reflected a small percentage of the show's peak audience of 11.5 million viewers. Saturday was the first time an episode of Strictly Come Dancing beat its ITV rival X Factor in the ratings war. The dancing show had 10.2 million viewers compared to X Factor's 9.6 million. Viewers in Leicestershire said they had no complaints about Robbie's routine with partner Ola Jordan. Pamela Wilson, 51, from Bagworth, said: "It was more raunchy than it's been before but that's not a bad thing." Kev Ballard, 43, from Shepshed, said: "I wouldn't have said it was too raunchy. It was in keeping with the music." Geoff McDonald, 59, from Braunstone, Leicester, said: "It was nothing outrageous. It was just a bit of fun and I think it's all entertaining." Catch Robbie on Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday on BBC1 at 6.25pm. IS IT JUST ME OR IS THIS A TOTALLY PATHETIC THING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. ALL THE CRAP IN THE WORLD AND THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. WHAT ABOUT THE PICTURES ON THE FRONT PAGES OF NEWSPAPERS OF A DEAD MICHAEL JACKSON OR A DEAD GADAFFI? PATHETIC.
John Matrix Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 people from Leicester coming across as the voice of reason. never thought i'd see it.
FallenAngel Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 This country grabs at any excuse to complain about something, it's what our country is known for, my Aussie mates always comment about "whingeing poms"
ajthefox Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Can't believe people would complain about this but I love that it's Savage
Corky Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 People are probably surprised he's stopped running around like a headless chicken after a football.
Yojoe36 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 People need to grow up. Who cares?? Fvcking retards
leicesterisme Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Your life must be at a serious low when your complaining about a dance on a TV programme. Absolutely laughable. Sad Bastards.
BoneDog Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 IS IT JUST ME OR IS THIS A TOTALLY PATHETIC THING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. ALL THE CRAP IN THE WORLD AND THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. WHAT ABOUT THE PICTURES ON THE FRONT PAGES OF NEWSPAPERS OF A DEAD MICHAEL JACKSON OR A DEAD GADAFFI? PATHETIC. I agree with what you say about showing people who have been brutally killed on the news in the early evening. I heard some guy complaining the other week that he was watching Sky News at 6pm and his 5 year old son was in the room with him when some bloody messed up pictures of Gadaffi popped up. He was fuming. I never saw any of it but he also said that they then had a video of Hilary C cracking up in fits of laughter about it. It's very wrong. Nowt wrong with Savage doing a bit of dirty dancing at 7-8pm though, as long as he is clothed!
Rincewind Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Never watched it but saw the replay bit at the end. Know little about dancing but I would have thought that the style of dance would determine the moves. I mean Savage and partner could not have done a waltz to that song. Wernt they supposed to interprutt an Halloween theme for the show? These people seem to be devoid of common sense.
