Saxondale Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 The new (changed a few months ago) thisisleicestershire / Leicester Mercury website is absolutely terrible. It obviously follows a template across all the Northcliffe media sites. In trying to be clever, the developers have made it pretty much unusable. It's cluttered, the news appears in random orders, news is difficult to find unless you click on the individual categories and the page features random adverts for used cars and houses. The look and feel is also terrible. To add insult to injury, every page you click on opens up auto-playing videos that take you buy surprise and come blaring out the speakers. There's only one word for it - sh1t. I can only imagine the ploy is to make the website so terrible that you have to buy the newspapers in order to get your local news. Fair enough. If not, it's just a sh1t effort by idiots. Do they not get any user feedback before they release this crap? Your thoughts people?

FantasticMrFuchs Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I agree bloomin awful, There is a drop down box at the top of the news stories so you can put them in order rather than the most commented stories first. I hate the amount of adverts on there too, especially the automatic video player scares the shit out of you when it blares out But as I don't live in Leicester anymore I shall put up with it.

True. I used to use the site daily but have rarely used it since it began pissing me off. I used to get all of the LCFC articles I hadn't read open in new tabs and work my way throught them, if my speakers were on I'd get the same rubbish spouting out with a minor gap in between about ten times over. Shouldn't be allowed to start up automatically.
