I like Drinkwater...........from the bit i have seen him which i imagine is the same as the majority on here .........still not convinced by Danns though ......got a lot to prove .

So i KNOW you'd back them against your unfortunate "punchbag".......who supplied the pass of the match to Dyer on Weds in the first few mins & made the first goal ....and in time i think you'd be right .

How you can back them yet though is a bit of a guess i reckon !!!

It most certainly is a guess, no arguement there, I thought I phrased it appropriately, ie I'm backing then to do well rather than stating they will do well, at the moment, who knows....... :dunno:

Self opinionated clap-trap .....change the fookin record ffs !!!!!!

The role of the teacher is to teach, even if some people will not listen......

I have gone to some lengths to credit Wellens with some decent play of late, even going to the trouble to explain that this came about because:-

1) He was playing further forward where he can use his (short) passing skills to play some good balls into our front men, and.....

2) He did his defending in forward areas, rarely dropped deep so that he was less able to use his (hollywood) passing skills to give the ball back to the opposition.

I thought I was pretty clear, but some dumb f*** suggested that he should play in 'the holding role'........... :frusty:

Otherwise I was being pretty kind suggesting that 3 games in a week and just 2 days off might be a bit tough for the old fella, so he might need a 'rest'...... :dunno:

Ok...get your point Dave but i repeat, he's the same age as Gerrard .......and i reckon with Danns and a twenty year old alongside him, their's life in "the old dog" yet !!! ;)

Was supposed to be going on a visit to Manchester Metropolitan Uni today but we decided at 4.30 this morning not to travel due to a severe weather warning.

Might go to Brighton and try to get in as a 'home' fan.

Given that this response seems to stem from a strange reaction to a post I made that we'd get overrun with Danns and Drinkwater in central midfield, I'll assume I'm the "dumb fvck" in question.

Got a couple of things to say on this:

1) At no stage did I (or anyone else in this thread) suggest Wellens play the holding role. There's a difference between having a guy with one eye on keeping the back door shut (woof) and a holding midfielder. As a self-styled "teacher" and seeming fount of all knowledge of our on-pitch issues I would have thought you'd know that.

I have stated in other posts (in this thread even) that Wellens is useless as an orthodox holding midfielder or even as a Pirlo-ultra-lite distributor. But far greater footballing minds than you and I have considered that he has the skillset to do that, as much as we'd disagree.

2) You present yourself on here as some sort of sage old head, like Thracian. Not sure why you'd feel the need to call anybody a "dumb fvck" if this were the case, particularly as it appears that you selectively read others' posts to push your own (often insightful) ideas forward.

Given that it was posted at 11:17 last night, I hope you'd had a bit too much of the happy sauce and such vitriol won't become a regular feature of your often interesting (although in the case of last night, exceptionally patronizing) posts.
