bald reynard Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 2 Newcastle Reserves are having a trial at City according to a Magpies website. Apparently, Ole Soderberg, the Swedish Under-21 Goalkeeper signed by Dennis Wise and Patrick Nzuzi, a young Congo-born winger (but at school on Tyneside) were released by Newcastle last week and have joined Leicester for a short trial period. Nzuzi has only played for their Reserves (but scored a few goals), but Soderberg was a regular on the Newcastle bench in 2010 (19 matches when Harper was injured) and has had first team run outs for Darlington and Chesterfield this season.
teblin Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 NEWCASTLE United duo Ole Soderberg and Patrick Nzuzi are set for a trial at Leicester City after being told they have no future on Tyneside. And it has emerged that Preston North End are keen on Whitley Bay lad Dan Taylor. The versatile Nzuzi scored for the Magpies in the Northumberland Senior Cup semi-final against Bedlington Terriers last week, but will now try to impress former Newcastle coach Nigel Pearson as he bids to win a contract at the King Power Stadium. Congo-born Nzuzi is a Wallsend Boys Club product, but was among a clutch of players left to find other clubs last week. Nzuzi has been with United since 2005 at the Academy and debuted in the reserves in 2009. Goalkeeper Soderberg was a Dennis Wise signing back in 2007 but has failed to make the grade at Newcastle, despite several appearances on the bench in the Premier League during injury-hit periods. Another one-time promising youngster, Samuel Adjei, looks set to head back to his native Sweden after his Newcastle career ended in deep disappointment. Adjei signed from Swedish Second Division club Jonkopings Sodra IF and was deemed one of the brightest young talents to come out of Sweden. However, the player has been beset by injury problems in the last two seasons with the Sweden youth international part of a cull that included Phil Airey, Ryan Donaldson, Tamas Kadar, Joan Edmundsson, Jeff Henderson and Greg McDermott Read More http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/02/09/soderberg-and-nzuzi-set-to-leave-newcastle-72703-30295745/?#ixzz1ltAybt6d For those wondering who we had on trial, sorry if this is elsewhere!

bald reynard Posted 9 February 2012 Author Posted 9 February 2012 A new backup for Kasper good news , as for the Patrick Nzuzi he is a RB according to Newcastle's OS http://www.nufc.co.u...1891821,00.html I've just spoken to our next door neighbour, who's a Newcastle season ticket holder and he said that Nzuzi's mainly played right wing for their Reserves. He also said that Soderberg always looked good in Reserve team matches when he saw him (a couple of times), but never got a chance in the first team - he was competing with Krul and obviously lost out to him when Harper was replaced ! Apparently he's a 'big lad' (?!) - 6'4" and 14+ stone - and still only 21.

Dan Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Soderberg cannot be any worse than any of our other keepers bar Schmeichel. I'd take a wide player too, especially as his name is FLAIR.
