Guest Col city fan Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Norwich isnt in the west country. They still have combine harvesters and say 'Naaarch'......
Dan Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Sat at home probably on FM and listening to the radio/watching SSN. I do wish I was going in a way but voted with my feet and to be honest I can't really afford it anyway. Derby instead.
AndyNCH Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Plenty of good pubs around the area. If you're on the train, simply walk across the road to the Compleat Angler which has become the sort of official away fans pub. For the real ale drinker, a good choice is the Coach and Horses which is a 3 minute walk up Thorpe road - turn right, up the hill when you come out the station. If you arrive into Norwich early, walk straight up Prince of Wales road, again opposite the station and into the town centre where there are all kinds of pubs, including independent freehouses like the Murderers - Just ask anyone and they will point you in the direction. The ground is only a 10 minute walk from town centre so you won't have far to go. Bear in mind a lot of the city pubs don't allow any football shirts/ away colours at all but the two I mentioned at the start do. If you want a cheap pint and to be close to the ground, turn left out of the station where there is all the local, cheap Weatherspoonesq pubs on offer. Either way, enjoy Norwich and I hope it's a great game. Cheers
Matt Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Will the pubs be open for our HIGH RISK FANS to visit? I believe so but following last night's episode of Coppers and the fan refusing to get on the coach because he needed to finish his can of Coca Cola all Coca Cola is banned for sale to Leicester City fans.
cambridgefox Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 I believe so but following last night's episode of Coppers and the fan refusing to get on the coach because he needed to finish his can of Coca Cola all Coca Cola is banned for sale to Leicester City fans. im playing the system and taking pepsi.I was hoping to go to the Complete Angler(away pub) but my Norwich mate phoned me and said he would give me a lift to Ely station with his West Ham mate!!! and go to wetherspoons and my train ticket would only be £7.50 return as his lads going.i could do a runner i suppose.
AoWW Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Complete Angler and Coach and Horses are both good shouts and away-friendly. The pubs on the new Riverside development (Wetherspoons inc) aren't overly keen on away fans wearing colours.
AndyNCH Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 This would be an excellent little route for anyone visiting. 15 min walk from the station to get started, or there are charity car parks on Thorpe road for about £4 for the day. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1VEAD_enGB440GB440&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1317&bih=829&ix=seb&ion=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=pubs+near+the+coach+and+horses+norwich&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=pubs&hnear=0x47d9e394b2eaeca1:0x40d383e545f75ec9,The+Coach+And+Horses,+82+Thorpe+Rd,+Norwich,+Norfolk+NR1+1BA&ei=k686T6z2NcShOsGvpJ8C&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&ved=0CBQQtgM Start at E, the Jubilee - Plenty of real ales and good beers, also has a big screen in the conservatory and a games room upstairs with 2 pool tables and darts. Quick walk to C, the Stracey Arms. A hotel, but don't be deceived, has a nice bar and a nice lounge area, nice little bar. Bit quieter to talk tactics in and you can get a seat! Over the road to A. the Coach and Horses. A proper, traditional independent pub with it's own micro brewery called the Chalk hill brewery. Warning, will be rammed but always happy to see away supporters and has an outside area with patio heaters too and needless to say, excellent brewed on site ales! Walk down the hill to D, the Compleat Angler. Official away fans pub. Decent selection of beers and a nice view of the river. Finally, walk along the river to J, the Queen of Iceni. A stones throw from the ground, big old cheap Weatherspoons place but open to all fans and usually a good atmosphere pre match.
dreamteam Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 They still have combine harvesters and say 'Naaarch'...... Plenty of farms around Leicester as well.
