Corky Posted 26 February 2012 Author Posted 26 February 2012 Good to see Dernbach going for the Rick Astley hairstyle
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 How's Dernbach playing? He was an overseas player for Melbourne Stars over the new years Big Bash league and got dropped after 2 very poor performances and even when he played grade cricket. Below state cricket he struggled.
Corky Posted 26 February 2012 Author Posted 26 February 2012 He's doing well. Excellent bowler at the death, his variation is crucial.
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 Done very well. Most improved bowler I've seen, remember us carting him round Grace Road a few years ago for Surrey before he came in at 11 and hit a six off the last ball to win. He looks like a cartoon though.
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 Bopara needs to be removed from the T20 side. Hopeless.
purpleronnie Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 Fantastic last delivery, I thought he'd bowl slightly wider to make it near on impossible to hit 6. 20/20>Football
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 BOOM Absolitely superb last two overs, we really have some top quality death bowlers.
ScouseFox Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 End of each innings won us that. Great stuff.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Bopara needs to be removed from the T20 side. Hopeless. As much as I love a bit of Ravi he's not been good in the T20s. That said he does still have an average of 12 with the ball overall (even though his batting average is just under 20) and that's always going to stand in his favour when you need at least five people bowling. He did well in the ODIs. With Morgan being dropped from the Test side he's got a chance to establish himself there. He does have a better batting average than Morgan (although that's not exactly a massive achievement given the way Morgan's been batting recently). I have no idea why I have a soft spot for Bopara.
Corky Posted 28 February 2012 Author Posted 28 February 2012 It is rather baffling. Like those who always highly rated Samit Patel when he wasn't in the side.

I think we can even play 5 Specialist bowlers when you have Broad/Swann and a high quality wicket keeper batsman. I liked Bopara ever since I watched him do this live.... http://news.bbc.co.u...l/scorecard.stm - Still probably the best live domestic innings I've seen. Just doesnt cut it at the top level though. Samit Patel always had the talent, I played against him a couple of times at school level in the 90's, problem is you could tell even then he spent too much time out of the nets scoffing Naan Bread instead.
